Vallum, rural home of artisan producers in the heart of Hadrian’s Wall country, officially launches as a wedding venue later this month with its first wedding fair. Selected exhibitors will join the artisan producers on site at Vallum Wedding Fayre on January 20th 2013, showcasing new facilities including the newly restored Old Cow Barn and David Kennedy at Vallum Restaurant and Function Room.

The event will also showcase ‘Vera’ – Vallum’s travelling ice cream cart, available for hire stocked with ice cream handmade with the milk of Vallum’s herd of Brown Swiss cows – and couples can create their own flavour to serve at their wedding.

Former North East Chef of the Year David Kennedy will also be on hand to plan wedding menus, and the restaurant will be open for lunch with special offers for fair visitors.

Vallum owner Vicky Moffitt says: Vallum is a lovely setting for a country wedding in a marquee and hay bales in the meadow or our newly restored Old Cow Barn, with its rustic interiors and breathtaking country views. Vallum is home to a community of artisan producers who work together to bring the best produce the shortest possible distance from field to plate. Those same artisan producers will work with couples to ensure every detail of their wedding is absolutely personal to them.

Exhibitors at the fair include Wildflower Florist Hannah Price, Northumberland Wedding Creche, Emma Bunting bunting hire and hen party bunting workshops, Sweetpea Paper, House of Boutique Cakes, and more. The fair will be held in Vallum’s Old Cow Barn, a former milking shed lovingly restored to create a gorgeous new venue and home to David Kennedy at Vallum.

Vallum Farm, which stands on Milecastle 18 eight miles west of Newcastle, is home to a community of artisans which includes the Vallum Tea Room and Ice Cream Parlour, the nationally renowned heritage vegetable producer North Country Growers, Bywell Smokery, and Hannah Price’s Wildflower Florist. It also houses David Kennedy’s recently launched David Kennedy at Vallum Restaurant, Function Room and Shop, which follows the success of David Kennedy’s Food Social at the Biscuit Factory in Newcastle and David Kennedy’s River Café in North Shields, which was recently awarded a prestigious Bib Gourmand. His wedding menus are bespoke and absolutely personal to every couple.
