White Memoirs (c) Nina Pang (15)

Nestled in the heart of Manchester’s industrial quarter, Halle St Peters, a Grade 2 listed deconsecrated church was lovingly rescued, restored and reopened by the Halle orchestra in April 2013. Working alongside amazing event design house, Pocketful of Dreams and Brown Sugar Blooms we will be enhancing the building’s natural beauty and creatively curating a stunning botanical themed backdrop to house thirty of the North’s crème de la crème creatives.

Purveyors of the innovative, imaginative and inspirational, White Memoirs this year will for the very first time showcase a botanical banquet displaying different table designs perfectly put together by Pocketful of Dreams. Visitors will have the opportunity to make reservations in advance and sample scrumptious sugary delights home-baked by Tea with Tom whilst washing down the crumbs with samples from cocktail mixologist The Drink’s Enthusiast’s ‘garden gin bar’!

DIY brides can look forward to taking part in a series of complimentary wedding workshops in which there will be opportunities create and take home bridal accessories and gifts.

Wuthering Heights. An Atmospheric Styled Vintage Bridal Shoot In Yorkshire

March 31st, 2014 | Julia Braime

Wooden Hill Images

I’m putting this feature together late on Mothering Sunday after a blissful day full of cuddles, friends, family, flowers, roast dinners and blackberry crumble.  Baby in bed and fire on, I’m curled up in a snug corner at my own Mum’s house with my laptop, and getting ready for the week ahead.

Sunday nights are usually reserved for a steaming bath and a good book, but busy schedules always call for a bit of a catch up and putting today’s post together has been just lovely.  These beautiful, creative images sent to me by friend of the wedding blog Abi from Wooden Hill Images are more like editorial art than your typical styled bridal shoot, and curating this selection has been like stepping into the pages of a Bronte favourite.

Enjoy.

Wuthering Heights from Sarah MacVean on Vimeo.

Wooden Hill Images

Abi says:  Since much of my work draws inspiration from literature, I decided for my annual bridal inspiration shoot to choose one of my favourite books, Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights, a classic love story.

Wooden Hill Images

The aim was to inspire a bride to expand their ideas and be creative. I wanted to create a shoot that told a story that would do this and allow a viewer lose themselves in another world for a time, drawing loosely from the book to capture the essence of the character of Cathy and portray the eerie and yet quintessentially beautiful atmosphere.

Wooden Hill Images

Wooden Hill Images

I initially approached Jane from Wedding and Events Floral Design who immediately understood and loved the idea. Not long after Bex Brides, Love Hair and Beauty Boutique and MacVean Videography came on board and through the means of a highly useful Pinterest board everyone was able to gather exactly what the feel of the shoot would be…

The shoot was going to take place on a misty, atmospheric sunrise in the heart of the Yorkshire Moors but as the day approached we realised we had chosen the sunniest day of the year so far! So we abandoned until sunset, meaning there was no hurry with the hair and makeup – and we all got a lie in!

Love Hair & Beauty fulfilled the brief perfectly. Makeup for an English beauty with a beautiful weathered look, rosy cheeks and tumbling locks and unkempt styling.  Lindsey our model isn’t a professional model, as I like to ask ‘real women’ to model where I can and as soon as I saw her I knew she had exactly the look that we were after.

The outfit was actually a few different looks, Victoriana blouses, a hessian belt with a vintage cameo and the bespoke skirt which I made with a thousand pins, metres of different muslins and nets and Jane kindly stitched was testament that sometimes you can create something totally unique yet beautiful. The cape, again from Bex Brides brought the outfit alive, and I’m definitely hoping to see more brides with cloaks and capes!

For the brides out there reading this – a bride doesn’t always HAVE to wear a white dress!  Look to the past, draw influence from things that mean something to you, be individual.

Take A Peep: Behind The Scenes At A Vintage Wedding Inspiration Shoot

March 20th, 2012 | Julia Braime

.

This morning on the wedding blog we met my first set of Northern Revolutionaries – the Vintage Victors (as I have christened them), led by Vicky Trainor (she of all things vintagely beautiful) and on location at Rigwood Manor, Saltburn on Sea.  Click here to meet them and see some images from their beautiful retro wedding inspiration shoot.

.

If you do one thing today, watch these video clips.  A very cool way to see a whole day’s shoot in a matter of minutes and also a prudent reminder to never (or always?) work with children.  Sometimes not as angelic as they seem…

If mornings are for meetings, afternoons is where it gets even more interesting – as we go behind the scenes for a day of wedding pretty!

A Vintage Style Moroccan Love Story – A Styled Wedding Inspiration Shoot In The North East

February 20th, 2012 | Julia Braime

.

Xtraordinary Photography

.

.

Happy Monday Brides Up North! With temperatures set to soar this week (after this cold snap a predicted 15 degrees Celsius is going to feel totally tropical!) I thought it was time for a burst of Moorish sunshine here on the wedding blog too!  This styled wedding inspiration shoot from wedding stationery designer Poppy of Papaver Designs and a group of very talented North East wedding industry suppliers took place in Durham in mid January, but you might just as easily be on location in Marrakech!

.

Let the sun shine!

.

Poppy says: Both Vintage and Middle Eastern patterns play a huge part in my influences and always end up in my work somewhere. From posy florals to henna inspired designs, I love the patterns and colours from both. The contrast of the bright Moroccan colours against the soft pastels of vintage really works well together.

The Moroccan meets vintage photo shoot was to launch a new range of lanterns from Papaver Designs and to introduce a new mini sized lantern for place names. The lanterns have multiple uses including hanging from trees, place settings, table decoration and venue decoration but can also be used as gifts for any special occasion.

2012 has been the start of lots of new ideas for Papaver Designs and I wanted to start it off with an amazing photo shoot and a re-vamp of the website too. The Papaver Designs blog has been increasingly popular with each week bringing a new paper make called ‘Wednesday’s Wonders’ and has proved very popular with ideas for DIY brides.

The photo shoot took place on a very cold Tuesday morning on top of a hill outside The Black Horse, Beamish (the location for the first Brides Up North Tweet Up North East!). The Black Horse is situated in picturesque grounds and hosts wedding receptions as well as being famous for its gastro bar menu.

.

.

Xtraordinary Photography

.

The shoot was not only about Papaver Designs, I wanted to show that the North East is full of talented business owners and really wanted to show off what we can do. They not only donated their products and services but gave props and their time to help out on the day.  I was in awe, and have spent the last few weeks being overwhelmed at the generosity of people.

The day of the shoot was amazing fun and was a great laugh even if the weather was in minus numbers! You would never have believed it from the photos but Laura (the gorgeous model) was frozen.

I am so pleased with how the photos have turned out and could not have asked for a more perfect team to work with. The photos really do speak for themselves.
