Perfect for those of you looking to add the wow factor to your wedding day décor, we’re catching up with our good friends at Lovelight Hire on the blog this morning.
As well as creating a cool talking point and fabulous photo opportunities, light-up letter décor, such as the wonderful products offered by Sarah and the team at Lovelight Hire, also help to create a romantic ambience and fabulous party mood for your big day celebrations.
We adore the classic ‘love’ letters but are also super impressed with the company’s band new neon “Til’ death do us party” sign. To tell us more about the fabulous products on offer, we’ll let Sarah do the talking…
Can you tell us a little about Lovelight Hire and what it offers to brides and grooms?
sarah says: A big hello from us firstly! We hire illuminated prop hire for weddings and events. You may be wondering what illuminated prop hire is? It’s a unique and quirky idea that incorporates wedding decor with lights! We hire giant (and smaller!) letters spelling out different words! The idea started in July 2013 after seeing a much simpler version in the south. A couple had made a small set of wooden letters spelling the word “love”, they had placed them outside with a floodlight behind them, after watching the wedding party gather round posing in an around the letters to get their photos taken and the visual impact and atmosphere they had created, I fell in love with the idea and so Lovelight Hire was born!
Why are illuminated letters a great addition to wedding day décor?
For a relatively low cost you can create a big impact with our letters. Standing at 1.5 metres tall with twin bulbs they are unmissable! Illuminated letters provide some amazing photo opportunities, we receive photos each week from our couples that look as though they fell out of a high fashion photo shoot! They can be used in any venue; on a stage, behind the top table, in an entrance to welcome everyone – the possibilities are endless. Our letters work really well for transforming a simpler setting, such as a barn, village hall or marquee, but look equally impressive in a grander venue.
What lights are available to hire from Lovelight Hire?
All of our letters are made to the highest specification, my fiancé just happens to own a metal fabrication company (lucky me!). Our letters are 1.5 meters in height, powder coated in cream rather than white and feature twin cabochons lights for a warm lacy lighting effect. We currently have the following available to hire:
LOVE letters – Our originals are by far the most popular, of course we have a twist on ours, the ‘O’ features a heart which can be either cream or red and is also removable.
Big Heart – A 6ft heart arch, this is just beautiful, very simplistic and unique. We have had this used as a photo booth wall before which created some excellent photos for the couple to keep and treasure of their guests and themselves.
MR & MRS – Our most majestic piece, this spans just over 8 metres whenset up and creates the biggest impact.
Initials – Personal and cute while still standing out, you get two letters with an ampersand to go between. We have a special offer on at the moment for a mini heart or star to accompany your letters complimentary.
Wish Tree – This isn’t a normal wish tree, its five-and-a-half foot tall with light up leaves. We provide the tags, pens and pegs for your guests to leave you messages and then you can create a scrapbook or a frame out of the well wishes.
Stacked Mr & Mrs – A much smaller version on top of each other, we love this original piece. Have it next to your surname initial letter (Mr & Mrs B) or stand alone!
Mini Mr & Mrs with surname – We also have a small Mr & Mrs which can be balanced on top of your surname.

Can you give us a little overview of The Wedding of my Dreams?
gemma says: I’m the younger half of the mother and daughter team who founded The Wedding of my Dreams in 2010. My amazing mum, Karen Morgan, runs the award winning wedding florist Passion for Flowers, which I got more and more involved with after graduating from uni. I’d help on busy weekends picking up floristry skills as I went along, learning only from the best, and developed a real passion for floristry, styling weddings and to be honest everything wedding related! My job at the time was in digital marketing and social media, I knew a thing or two
At the time Passion for Flowers couples were hiring an array of props and decorations from us to complement their florals, saying they couldn’t find anything as lovely elsewhere in the market. Mum and I both love sourcing decorations and wanted couples all over the country to have access to the props and decorations we had searched so hard to find and so The Wedding of my Dreams was born.
Going into business with my mum was the best decision I’ve ever made, we both love going to work every day and both now work across the two companies. It’s so rewarding to see how far we’ve come and how both businesses have blossomed. All the hard work and late nights have really paid off. In 2015 Passion for Flowers was voted best wedding florist in England in The Wedding Industry Awards and The Wedding of my Dreams has won numerous awards since its launch.

It’s time for another online/ offline catch up folks. The Editorials is a series I run occasionally here on the wedding blog, bringing the offline bridal freelance writing that I do on a monthly basis for numerous glossy magazines online.
“It’s All In The Detail” was a piece penned by moi and first published in National Glossy, Wedding Magazine as a part of my Trend Alert series of columns (although it’s contents have been tweeted a few times since then)! I hope it inspires you to accessorise wisely…
I said: No longer content with just the church, dress and swish wheels, trendsetting brides and grooms are thinking outside the box when it comes to the finer details of their big day.
This isn’t about following the crowd and installing a job lot of teacups, typewriters and the prerequisite bird cage table centres, but selecting unique props and decorating details that say something about the your individual tastes and interests and using them as a backdrop to your celebration.

A plan is essential. It’s all too easy to get carried away at the car boot sales and lose sight of your initial vision. This isn’t an episode of ‘Don’t Tell The Bride’. Before the great rummage begins, consider your theming carefully and arm yourself with a wish list to avoid expensive mistakes. Consider enlisting the services of a prop hire or event styling specialist who will help you to bring more ambitious ideas to life.
A Personal Touch
Whatever decorating details you add to your big day, the most effective schemes will be those that really mean something to you as a couple. Travel mad? Vintage suitcases, picture postcards and grand old maps in place of table runners can add nostalgia and romance to your celebration. Love cycling? How about a bicycle made for two?
Some of the more popular grand schemes like festival or circus themed weddings need commitment to work. If in doubt, add bulk and colour – reams of rainbow streamers or paper pompoms en masse are a cheaper alternative to filling the room with flowers, and in some scenarios more definitely is more!
Before embarking on a decorating extravaganza, remember to do your sums. Props and detailing should really be somewhere near the bottom of your budget and an optional extra rather than essential expense. Decide what’s more important to you – 100 Greek urns or your Santorini honeymoon (and I’m not judging!) and budget accordingly.

Nothing For The Sake Of It
Often, the most stylish weddings are the simplest affairs. Don’t feel pressured to over-style your day if a themed celebration just isn’t your bag. You can still add personal touches with your favourite flowers, photographs of loved ones or a carefully chosen playlist.

Can you believe its Advent already? I’ve so much gorgeous Real Wedding content to share with you between now and when that New Year’s ball drops that I thought I’d sneak in a pretty Sunday post to welcome the season.
If you’re planning a winter wedding – or just thinking about decorating your home for the holidays – there’s nothing chicer than layering white on white, as this lovely little decor and details inspiration shoot from North West photographer Amanda Balmain and floral designer Sharon Saberi at Aphrodite Flowers shows. Be inspired to create something lovely this Christmas.
Amanda says: Sharon and I actually put together this simple shoot earlier this year, but the ideas would work equally well for a beautiful winter wedding breakfast. We would both love to work on an outdoor wedding and we thought this gorgeous tree in the pretty woodland setting was just perfect. We had such fun decorating the tree and it looked so pretty that we both thought we would like to get married again right there (although we’d have to wrap up warm)! On the day the light was just perfect to give a warm glow to our all white winter floral colour palette.
