A Little Party Never Killed Nobody! LOVE Bridal Boutique Celebrate A Roaring First Year

September 17th, 2013 | Julia Braime

If you regularly stop by these swirly silver pages, you’ll know that I spend a lot of time championing the brilliant Northern suppliers that I come across as I scour the regions for the very best wedding industry talent out there.  Two such gems are the lovely Emma of LOVE Bridal Boutique and her husband Jonny of Jonny Draper Photography

A nicer, more talented pair – who really do care about their customers – would be hard to find.  That’s why, when I got the call to head North West and celebrate their first successful year in business with them I was on the phone to a babysitter faster than you can say “Where’s the bubbly?!”.

A lovely evening, celebrating a fabulous first year.  Cheshire brides, I think we all know where you should be starting your dress hunt…  Happy Birthday LOVE Bridal Boutique!

Emma and Jonny say: What a first year!  We can’t believe how quickly it’s gone and we’re so pleased with the response we’ve had from all the brides who’ve visited LOVE Bridal Boutique, whether they’ve bought a dress or not.  We set out to create an unrivalled wedding dress shopping experience and the feedback that we continue to get is that we’re delivering on all levels which makes us so proud.

We want every bride to feel special, to feel that she’s being given her own personal shopping experience and to feel that should she find the dress of her dreams with us, this experience will continue right up until and after her wedding day.

When we realised our first birthday was coming round a little quicker than we expected we only had one thought on our minds – PARTY!  We wanted to spend some time with some of the people who have helped make our first year so successful – family, friends, wedding industry friends – everybody who has been there for us every step of the way.  Which we realised included our brides too!  So our initial idea of having a small gathering at the boutique, quickly developed into something a bit bigger!  The new collections from our designers were starting to arrive into the boutique around the time of our birthday, so how about we include a catwalk show as well as drinks and celebrations?!  We decided that if we were going to have a party, we might as well make it a proper one!

Our wonderful friends, the Higham family (owners of Cheshire’s most amazing bespoke wedding venue, Styal Lodge) threw open the doors of their beautiful venue which gave us a space appropriate to the number of people that were making it onto our ever growing guest list and also the room to have a catwalk show too.  And that’s when the serious planning started.

Ayesha Rahman for LOVE Bridal Boutique

Meetings with our lovely friends from Styal Lodge, Sian from Didsbury Flower Lounge, Emma & Jill from Special Days Events and Tansy, Scott and Victoria from Hipswing Entertainments ensued and we quickly developed an overall design and layout for the event with their help.  Lighting, staging, decoration, flowers – everything we asked about was greeted with the same response – "Yes, of course we can do it"! And for that we are so grateful.

Award winning wedding entertainer (and very good friend) Howard Wing had said "yes" to compering the evening for us before we’d even finished asking him the question and he ensured the smooth running and wonderfully entertaining flow of the evening – thanks Howie!

Every party needs some food and it was an honour to have top London chef, Tomos Parry create some amazing canapés for us – they went down an absolute storm!

Our great friends at And The Dish Ran Away With The Spoon produced the most beautiful dessert table that you’ve ever seen – which we didn’t ‘open’ until after the catwalk show.  And as soon as we did, it looked like a plague of locusts had flown through the building!  Not a crumb left!

Our catwalk show simply would not have happened without our #dreamteam.  Ailsa Baker Dance – our choreographer extraordinaire opened the show and choreographed our amazing team of models, Sarah T, Sarah H, Izzy, Lizzie & Akvilé who were amazing as always.  Our catwalk show was built on the foundations of an amazing team behind the scenes – Gemma Hallowell MUA and Paisley Gamble from Macleod Bradley hair salon created some amazing looks, perfect for our 20′s inspired show.  And we also have to thank the unsung heroes, our friends and family dragged backstage to assist with the quick changes between scenes – my sister Lisa, Jonny’s sister Clare and our bestest friend, Betty.

James Jebson for LOVE Bridal Boutique

As we went along with the planning we were starting to get the feeling that this was going to be a pretty special event – which would of course need documenting.  Jonny shoots a lot of our events (he’s a wedding photographer!) but we knew he would be required ‘front of house’ so just wouldn’t have the time to shoot anything, so we asked some of his photographer friends if they would come along and shoot it for us – so a huge thank you to Danielle Boxall, Ayesha Rahman and James Jebson for all their hard work and the amazing images you see in this feature.

Florence the Vintage Caravan

We also wanted to inject a bit of fun into the evening, so Matt Bowen brought along ‘Florence the Caravan’ – his very cool and very unique photo booth.  It was a LOT of fun looking through the images of all our guests having a riotous time in there!  Thanks Matt!

Overall, it was the most perfect celebration of a wonderful first year, it was lovely to see so many of our brides who are already married and our future brides there on the night and it was so lovely to be able to raise a glass to all the people who mean so much to us and have helped us out from minute one.

We have to say though, it was a real reminder as to just how much planning goes into a wedding (as the scale of this party and the number of suppliers that we were coordinating really felt like we were organising our own wedding all over again!) so it was great to have that reminder as to how much our brides have to do in the build up to their day.

Danielle Boxall for LOVE Bridal Boutique

We joked on the night with all the suppliers and wedding friends that helped us out that they needn’t worry – we won’t be having a party of this scale every single birthday… but the organising was quite addictive and the celebration itself was as much fun as our wedding day!  So maybe we will do it all again next year..!

Wedding Blog Fashion Exclusive: Brides Up North Interviews Stewart Parvin For LOVE Bridal Boutique

March 26th, 2013 | Julia Braime

.

Today on the wedding blog I am excited to bring you something rather special – and oh la la we are going all couture here at Brides Up North – as we talk exclusively to wedding dress design house Stewart Parvin about their beautiful bridal collection and latest collaboration with stockist and Brides Up North Featured Supplier LOVE Bridal Boutique, Cheshire.

.

.

Jonny Draper Photography for LOVE Bridal Boutique & Stewart Parvin

.

.

Why are you so excited to stock Stewart Parvin at LOVE?

.

Emma of LOVE Bridal Boutique says: When we first started planning for the launch of LOVE Bridal Boutique and drawing up our ‘wishlist’ of designers, Stewart Parvin was high up (if not top of!) that list. My husband and co-owner of LOVE, Jonny, had previously photographed a couple of weddings with brides wearing Stewart’s creations, and they really stood out for me as the finest classic couture gowns I had ever seen!

Our attraction to Stewart’s collection was cemented further when we were lucky enough to see his catwalk show at The White Gallery last year. It was the opening show and as it was also our very first trade show buying for LOVE, emotions were running high! The new collection completely blew us away and we knew instantly that they would be perfect for our new boutique. But it wasn’t to be…well not at that time anyway, as we soon learned that they already had a Cheshire stockist so unfortunately it wouldn’t be possible for us to stock them at that time.

.

It just goes to show that all good things come to those who wait… fast forward 8 months and here we are, the new Cheshire stockist for Stewart Parvin and we couldn’t be happier! A real dream come true.

.

.

Why are Stewart Parvin so delighted to be working with LOVE?

.

The team at Stewart Parvin say: We are absolutely thrilled to be working with Emma and Jonny from LOVE Bridal Boutique! Emma has long been a huge fan of the Stewart Parvin collection, and she represents the brand perfectly. The combination of a real passion for her collections and the care and attention she offers to each bride means that her clients can have the utmost confidence in working with her on the run up to their special day. The boutique is beautiful and the perfect environment for brides to try on the Stewart Parvin collection.

.

.

.

.

Tell us about the design house, it’s history and it’s gowns?

.

Stewart Parvin: Stewart launched his first womenswear collection in 1995, simultaneously opening his own boutique in Knightsbridge. Shortly after that he was commissioned to create a wedding gown for the daughter of a private client. That one gown was so successful it became immediately apparent there was a real demand for Stewarts unique design aesthetic to be translated to bridalwear. He made a full bridal collection which was stocked initially in his own boutique, then later was offered to hand selected boutiques across the UK. Now Stewarts collections are housed in their own standalone boutiques, womenswear on Motcomb Street, and bridalwear on Beauchamp Place in Knightsbridge, with bridalwear also being stocked in the UK’s leading independent bridal boutiques. Designing and making everything in London, Stewart oversees a small specialist team to create each and every piece – some of whom have been working with Stewart since the beginning! It’s a real heritage business, and one that has a deeply rooted commitment to UK manufacture and the nurturing of skilled and specialist experts.

.

.

Tell us about the collection by Stewart Parvin?  What was the inspiration behind the collection?

.

Stewart Parvin: The bridal collection is chic, understated, impeccably cut and well made. Stewart Parvin dresses have fantastic corsetry which creates an amazing silhouette, whilst still being light, wearable and comfortable. The collection echoes his womenswear aesthetic, albeit in a slightly different way – when Stewart designs it’s all about what is best for that one particular garment, about what is perfect for that particular gown. If a piece of embroidery or the addition of a bow or flower isn’t going to enhance the finished product then it is left off. Less is most definitely more for the Stewart Parvin bride and the collection of wedding gowns reflects that. We also do a collection of accessories that complement each gown really well. Adding a lace bolero to a beautifully simple silk crepe fishtail gown creates a stunning, sleek and sophisticated bridal look. Producing each bridal gown in a new collection is a real labour of love, with every seam and panel being very carefully considered and perfected before the gowns are created in fabric.

.

.

.

.

Which fabrics and cuts were chosen for the collection and why?

.

Stewart Parvin: Stewarts fishtail cut has been honed to perfection over the development of the collection. The cut really is crucial if you are wearing this shape, every curve on the pattern has to be subtly and sensitively handled to make the most of the female form! We’ve played around with the fishtail idea with some really soft shapes without petticoats that look fabulously slinky – “So Amazing” is a great example of this – it’s a tradition fishtail cut with a corset inside, but using soft Chantilly lace and a silk satin lining means it has a real vintage look to it, and without a petticoat the skirt drops really softly. Stewarts classic A-line is also featured which is a super flattering silhouette and so wearable in lace or in a solid fabric such as duchess satin, or our stunning flower brocade. A classic silhouette has been given a new twist in one of Stewarts signature gowns “Wild Horses. It has a beautifully full circle skirt in Silk gazar, which is an amazing fabric as it manages to have some body and hold yet still be featherlight and gauzy. Stewart designed this gown with no petticoat which creates the most beautiful line on a bride, and is a modern take on that classic ballgown shape of the 1950’s.

.

Everything is chosen with the client in mind, every pattern is perfected with a view to making the most of the bride, both in terms of fit, and maintaining Stewarts strong design aesthetic.

.

.

Jonny Draper Photography for LOVE Bridal Boutique & Stewart Parvin

.

.

Jonny Draper Photography for LOVE Bridal Boutique & Stewart Parvin

.

.

Who does Stewart Parvin design for?

.

Stewart Parvin: Stewarts bridal gowns really work across a huge spectrum of clients in terms of who they are! All of our clients share an understanding of what makes Stewarts bridal gowns so wonderful – the cut and quality of fabrics used. Our clients want a wedding dress that has been crafted for them from scratch, and they really appreciate the quality and care that goes into the creation of them. The aesthetic is clean, chic and sleek so our brides are confident enough to pull off that understated look. Funnily enough we tend to get a lot of brides who work in the fashion industry themselves, which is wonderful.

.

.

.

What sizes are available?

.

Stewart Parvin: We offer a range of standard sizes, but the majority of our gowns are sold as made to measure which we offer in both our own boutique and to all of our stockists across the UK. The client will be measured, and a calico cut to their specific measurements. The calico is fitted on the bride – and then the pattern perfected before the dress is cut in the proper fabric. This means we can work with a brides exact proportions and ensure everything is in the right place. This also means we can accommodate a number of bespoke changes to a gown which means a bride really can personalise her look!

.

.

What sort of price point?

.

Stewart Parvin gowns stocked at LOVE start at £2,575.

.

What can brides expect when they book and appointment at LOVE?

.

Emma: When brides book an appointment here at LOVE, they can expect a fabulous experience from the first moment they step through our doors, choosing from an array of carefully selected, stunning gowns from a variety of designers and having exclusive use of the entire boutique during their appointment. We know that choosing your dream dress can be a tough and often emotional decision so brides will have my undivided attention throughout their appointment to offer help and advice, and if that means trying that favourite dress on again (and again!) then so be it!

.

Refreshments will also be offered to a bride and her family and friends in the comfort of our dressing/sitting room with inspirational books to flick through whilst they are eagerly awaiting for that next dress to be put on. And what happens when they find the dress of their dreams with us? Well, there’ll be a big celebration of course!

.

Something which my brides also really love and appreciate is my knowledge about other venues and suppliers so that I can easily make recommendations about tried and tested photographers, florists, make-up artists, hair stylists, caterers etc, all of which can be pretty daunting choices when planning a wedding.

.

.

With a Stewart Parvin gown, what is the process from finding “the one” to final fitting?

.

Emma: When that eagerly awaited moment comes when a bride-to-be has found ‘the one’, aside from much excitement, emotion and celebrating for all, the next step would be for me to take the bride’s measurements in order to submit her dress order. Timing-wise this should be at least 6 months (preferably 9 months minimum) before the wedding date. A bride can also choose at this time whether she would prefer to go with the made-to-measure option, custom fit to her measurements.

.

At the time of ordering, I will also discuss other options with the bride, for example any requirements for accompanying accessories such as boleros or belts/sashes, plus any required modifications to the gown, which will be submitted with the order.

.

The bride will then come back into the boutique roughly 8 weeks before her wedding date for her first fitting with our seamstress, and the second fitting will take place roughly 3-4 weeks after this point, allowing time for any additional fittings if required before the wedding.

.

.

What was your inspiration for the shoot and why did you choose the venue/ styling?

.

Jonny of Jonny Draper Photography says: It was really important to use a location that really suited the style of Stewart’s dresses. Often putting a classic design into a contrasting, modern environment can work really well, but we really wanted to embrace what Stewart Parvin is all about. Our model Izzy, is a real girl rather than a professional model which was really important to us. We loved Izzy’s classic English Rose look and felt that she would suit Stewart’s dresses perfectly. It was important to allow the dresses to be the stars of the show and not get lost in the scale of such a stunning location and from minute one of planning this shoot, we had Brides Up North in mind. What would Brides Up North readers want to see? What was important to them? We felt that keeping things elegant and simple and giving the dresses the opportunity to be ‘front and centre’ would really appeal to Brides Up North’s Stewart Parvin fans.

.

.

Jonny Draper Photography for LOVE Bridal Boutique & Stewart Parvin

.

.

Who was involved in the shoot and how did it go on the day?

.

Jonny: It was freezing and Izzy was a trooper! We had a great team around us, Emma did an amazing job styling Izzy and our gorgeous friend, Gemma Hallowell MUA was responsible for Izzy’s English Rose look.

.

We’ve also got an extremely active facebook page where they can keep up to date with all our news, events, photoshoots and just indulge in pictures of gorgeous dresses and pretty accessories!

Wedding Blog Exclusive: Merry Christmas! Announcing The New Collection By Raimon Bundo at LOVE Bridal Boutique!

December 21st, 2012 | Julia Braime

Raimon Bundo at LOVE Bridal Boutique by Jonny Draper

.

.

Happy Friday… and Happy Christmas!  Woo hoo! It’s finally here!  I’ll be back later on today to share my Brides Up North Christmas message (it’s been one helluva year people!), but I’m not leaving you out in the cold after that!

.

We’ll be celebrating Christmas in style here at Brides Up North with a daily post recapping on my personal favourites from a year’s worth of gorgeous celebrations  (The 12 Weddings of Christmas, if you like!) to bring us into the New Year.  I love to take a few moments at this time of year to look back and reflect on the 12 months gone by before moving on.  It’s certainly been an inspirational and pretty one here on these swirly silver pages and I can’t wait to trawl through our archives.  If you need a rest from Aunt Maude, eating to the point of bursting, beeping gadgetry, Deal Or No Deal and incessant carolling… you know where to come.

In the meantime, we are looking very much ahead, with a wedding blog fashion exclusive from Brides Up North Featured Supplier LOVE Bridal Boutique, based in Cheshire.  I know that Emma and Jonny have been bursting to share news of their latest designer with you lovelies, so I won’t keep them from it a moment more.

.

Today I am happy to introduce the new collection by Spanish designer Raimon Bundo at LOVE Bridal Boutique, the star of this beautiful Christmassy shoot by Jonny Draper Photography, and to chat to Emma, Jonny and Anton Weiss of Raimon Bundo about these utterly stunning wedding gowns: dresses recalling golden days of elegance and unmistakeable quality, with a romantic, bohemian edge.

Tell us about the new collection by Raimon Bundo? What was the inspiration behind the collection?

.

Anton: Designer, Ivonne Ruiz is from Barcelona where the collection is designed and art will always inspire her craft as the city is brimming with it! This year’s collection is inspired by the Impressionist movement whose use of light and colour are reflected in the ethereal fabrics and soft pastel colour palette introduced into the collection. If you watched the Barcelona bridal week catwalk show you would see that Monet – the master of the Impressionists – has pride of place in this year’s collection. Ivonne’s love of art is also closely connected to her love for travel. She spends a lot of time at her place on the Balearic island of Formentera (just close to Ibiza) and the bohemian vibe of this island can especially be observed in the IR by Bundo collection .

.

Which fabrics were chosen for the new collection and why?

.

Anton: Fabrics chosen for this years collection include layer upon layer of stunning laces such as Chantilly, the softest silk tulle you can imagine and vintage details such as gold crochet. We have also introduced a lovely very lightweight brocade for brides looking for something completely new.

.

.

Who does Raimon Bundo design for and what sizes are available?

.

Anton: Raimon Bundo designs for all brides of all sizes and we also offer made to measure. Across each of the four collections there is something for all brides: Raimon Bundo mainline (for classic girls who perhaps want a twist), IR by Bundo (for bohemian, alternative, carefree brides: especially good for destination wedding girls!), Kiss (for younger girls, civil ceremonies, budget conscious brides) and Victor and Lucchino (for avant guarde show stopping brides). The collection closest to Ivonne’s heart is IR by Bundo which you will find well stocked at LOVE Bridal Boutique

What sets Raimon Bundo apart from other designers?

.

Anton: A few things: amazing customer service including express turnaround times of four weeks for late brides often for no extra charge, modification and customisation of styles for no extra charge and a really competitive quality/price ratio. We also pride ourselves on the superior quality of our European only fabrics and also on the fact that EVERY dress is 100% hand-made in Barcelona – a claim not all designers can justify!

Tell us about working with your brand new stockist LOVE Bridal Boutique?

.

Anton: We are delighted to be working with LOVE Bridal Boutique because the lovely Emma and Jonny have years between them in the bridal industry and really know what brides want. They instantly recognized what the brand is about, the value and service that we offer compared to other bridal houses and the beauty and originality of the dresses. They also understand the importance of a beautiful photo shoot which you can see from these images… so we know that the image of the brand and our reputation are in good hands!

.

Why are you so excited to stock Raimon Bundo at LOVE?

.

Emma: We first encountered Raimon Bundo at the White Gallery back in May and completely fell in love with the gowns, the branding, the service offering – everything about the brand really!  At that point we were close to launching the boutique and had already committed to the designers we were going to stock, so we managed to hold back and see how the boutique would take off before we took on another designer. After only three months of trading we had well exceeded our targets, and I had noticed a small gap in our dress offering, so it didn’t take long before I was poring over the Raimon Bundo website with my dress wish list growing by the minute! Soon enough we arranged to meet up with Anton to view the dresses at our boutique which were sent over especially to us from Barcelona and we agreed on our final dress list there and then. We chose a selection of dresses from both the mainline Raimon Bundo collection and also IR by Bundo. Jonny and I were completely wowed by the gowns and couldn’t wait for them to arrive into the boutique… so much so that our minds were in overdrive for how we could announce the arrival of the collection at LOVE… obviously we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to do a photo shoot! Our brand new dress samples arrived with us within just a month and we were ready to go with our shoot.

What is the process from finding “the one” to final fitting?

.

Emma: When a bride falls for a Raimon Bundo gown they will have their measurements taken and I will chat through sizing options with the bride. There is a fabulous made to measure service available too. Also, as Anton mentioned, if a bride has any special requirements, for example changing a neckline to sweetheart neckline or removing a belt feature, then this can be done at no extra cost. The process still remains as easy as possible and a bride will then come back into the boutique for her first fitting with our seamstress around eight weeks before her wedding day. From here she may have one or two additional fitting appointments. At a fitting appointment she will also be able to choose from a wide array of accessories to compliment her gown from our ‘LOVE Bridal Accessories’ department.

.

What was your inspiration for the shoot and why did you choose the venue & styling?

.

Jonny: From the photographer’s perspective, Styal Lodge is one of my absolute favourite wedding venues. It’s a bespoke, hand crafted, family run venue that is built on stunning grounds with a different photographic opportunity every way you turn. I was very mindful of the fact that the shoot would be a winter shoot so weather would more than likely play a (negative!) role on the day, so we planned to shoot everything inside. This led to a minor problem in that the interior of the lodge is very distinctive (one of the reasons I love it!) and we wanted to style this shoot in a way that people looking at it would have to do a double take that it was even at Styal Lodge. More than anything, we wanted to showcase the venue’s versatility and show what can be done when you let a team made up of super creative wedding specialists get together and come up with something a little bit different…

.

.

Raimon Bundo at LOVE Bridal Boutique by Jonny Draper

.

.

.

.

Who was involved in the shoot and how did it go on the day?

.

Jonny: Obviously the venue was the stunning Styal Lodge – our first and only choice for this shoot. I’d spoken to Poppy (wedding and events manager) about various ideas, which parts of the lodge we would use, how we could dress it and she became one of the most important people on the shoot: a huge help during the set up the day before and literally happy to hand over her keys to allow us to start at the crack of dawn on shoot day.

.

One of our absolute favourite florists, Sian from Didsbury Flower Lounge was another key person involved. I had an idea about ‘bringing the outside in’ but I couldn’t quite get my head round exactly what I wanted (in fact, I didn’t necessarily know exactly what I wanted!) – cue a phone call to Sian to explain the idea, a chat about materials and props, a conversation about building sets (!) and a date in the diary to meet nice and early at the lodge the day before the shoot to bring the ideas to life. We decided on two sets, one which had a woodland, wintery, ethereal feel and one that would be slightly more contemporary, lit very differently in order to give it a striking look.

.

Another phonecall to Emma from Special Days Events (thanks Poppy at Styal Lodge for thinking of that!) to get hold of ivy, black drapes and various props and we were good to go…

.

Shoot day itself and we’d recruited a gorgeous model called Jen Brook, whose work I had admired on Facebook for quite a while. Jen is living proof of social media being a great tool. We have a number of mutual photographer and model friends on Facebook and she added me as a friend a few months ago. As soon as we decided we wanted to use a model for this shoot she was the first person I thought of. All of her previous work had so many different looks to it, that I knew she’d be able to fit into the overall look we were trying to create. She didn’t let us down and she’s a lovely person too – bonus!

.

And then to the amazing Gemma Hallowell and the equally amazing Paisley Gamble from Macleod Bradley in West Didsbury – as with Styal Lodge, these two ladies were nailed on from the minute we dreamed up this shoot. Gemma is so attentive, creative and imaginative when it comes to the looks that she creates. Paisley seems to have that knack to always be able to do something that little bit different, that little bit special. They’re both great fun and easy to work with – top girls!

.

We were also lucky enough to enjoy the company of the big boss from Macleod Bradley – Helen Bradley – for the shoot. It was great having Helen on board, not only because of all the support she’s given us since we opened the boutique, but she was also a very useful extra pair of hands when it came to tidying up later on!

.

All in all, a top team who we were so excited to have involved in the shoot. The images are exactly as Emma and I had imagined them and that is all down to the amazing team there over the course of the shoot.

This afternoon I am thrilled to introduce a very special couple – brand new Brides Up North Featured Suppliers Emma & Jonny Draper – and their gorgeous new Cheshire wedding dress boutique, the fabulous LOVE Bridal!  Let’s get straight down to the fabulousity…

.

.

When did LOVE Bridal Boutique open and what is your ethos?

.

LOVE Bridal Boutique was set up by myself, Emma Draper, & my husband Jonny Draper and is Cheshire’s newest and most exclusive bridal experience! My passion for all things wedding stems from my experience as a professional bridal make-up artist, my role as studio director in Jonny’s wedding photography business, and having been boutique manager at a renowned south Manchester bridal boutique for the last couple of years. Jonny is a long-established international wedding photographer so together we have lots of bridal experience and completely live and breathe weddings! I have always loved being a part of my brides’ journey to their big day so we couldn’t think of a better way to develop our family business by adding the bridal boutique to our portfolio.

We first opened the doors to LOVE Bridal boutique on 1st August 2012 with a launch event for all our industry friends and family. We really wanted to celebrate our launch with all the people who have influenced our vision for the boutique as it is so important to us to work collaboratively with and build a strong rapport with other like-minded wedding businesses. This is at the heart of what we do and is something we love sharing with all our brides and grooms both through LOVE Bridal Boutique and Jonny Draper Photography.

What lines of wedding gowns do you stock?

.

We have carefully selected four dress designers who we feel really reflect our brand and have the same vision and working ethos as we do. We drew up our shortlist and prayed that they would all still be available – and thank goodness they all were!

.

.

Jonny Draper Photography

.

.

Intuzuri were our first designer on board and we had no doubt in our mind that they would be a hit for us. We were completely utterly blown away by their gowns constructed from the finest Chantilly laces, duchess satins and silk taffetas combined with intricate lace appliqués, hand-beading and intricate bodice detail. Their collection includes some classic shapes from full A-line skirts and long dreamy trains to figure-hugging fishtails. They also come at a really affordable price point too which our brides are just loving (the proof is in the pudding as we’ve already sold two of their gowns within our first three weeks of trading!) We were also so impressed with the service from the Intuzuri team who have been truly fabulous throughout the process and in helping us make our selection.

Our second designer was a bit of a no brainer for us… the Heritage collection by Balbier Wyatt (click here to see a special preview of this collection on Brides Up North). This collection has been created by three generations and renowned industry experts – Alan Wyatt, Amanda Wyatt and Charlotte Balbier (grandfather, daughter and granddaughter no less!). Having worked closely with and built great friendships with Amanda and Charlotte over the last few years, and Jonny having taken lots of photos for and of Charlotte (including her engagement shoot!), when they told us about this new collection we immediately said ‘yes please’! We knew it would be right for us even before we saw the dresses! There’s a real mix of shapes and styles in this collection perfect for all body shapes, synonymous with Amanda and Charlotte’s signature styles but still a significantly different collection. Everything from full lace fitted gowns, to slinkier chiffon low-backs and fabulous sparkle bodiced A-line full skirted gowns. A lot of the dresses in this collection are perfect for destination weddings too, which is why a lot of the gowns have fabulous names such as Barbados and Costa Rica! To complement these gowns, we have a range of accessories from Amanda Wyatt in stock too.

.

.

.

.

Our third designer, Mia Mia is a relatively new collection from the long established Alan Hannah Bridalwear. We first met up with Alan and Marguerite at their fabulous showroom and were so spoilt for choice by the collection that we knew instantly that they were perfect for LOVE (we hadn’t even seen the 2013 collection at this point either!) A great mix of youthful, light, pretty dresses with some very classic styles and shapes in the collection, we knew that with our branding we would definitely be attracting the right kind of bride for these dresses. We eventually picked our shortlist and have since added more to this when we previewed the amazing 2013 collection at The White Gallery in London in May.

.

.

.

.

The final piece of our jigsaw was Terry Fox, a designer who made us really stop in our tracks and take note of every single last embellishment, intricate embroidery, drape and beautiful silks on each and every dress. Her studio down in Suffolk is a complete treasure trove and just how every girl’s dream bedroom would look! Terry lives and breathes dresses and fabrics and that completely comes across with each dress she produces. Each gown can be tailor-made to a brides requirements with a vast colour selection of silks to choose from. One of her gowns ‘Truth, Beauty, Freedom, Love’ can even be personalised as the gown name is embroidered onto ribbon detail of the dress, but this can equally be changed for the bride and groom’s names and date of their wedding or perhaps a quote that is very personal to them. This collection is definitely for the bride who wants something a bit different and to make a statement! We have also chosen a gorgeous selection of matching Terry Fox accessories to finish off the look.

.

.

What lines of accessories do you stock?

.

Once we’d agreed on our dresses, we had just as much fun choosing the perfect accompanying accessories. I pulled together my wish list and then The White Gallery was our first port of call praying that all the headpieces we wanted all looked as fabulous in real life as they did in brochures and online. They were even better than that! We were overwhelmed by the selection on offer from a variety of designers but kept each and every dress in mind before making our final decision.

.

We are now proud to be stockists of the very gorgeous Harriet Wilde shoes (with a particular fave of mine being her Sakura style with decorative cherry blossom detail and silver leaves cascading down the heel – just stunning!) There’s a shoe in her collection to suit all of our dresses and she does a great range of heel heights too, including some beautiful lace ballet pumps with Swarovski crystals around the heel. Most of her shoes can also be dyed so they can be matched up to bridesmaid dresses or even for after the wedding.

.

.

Jonny Draper Photography

.

.

It was important to us to pick a couple of really great headpiece designers to complement our dresses so we have chosen two highly acclaimed designers whose designs were just so beautiful and different to any we’d seen before.

.

I’ve long since been a fan of Halo & Co designs, each piece handmade to order, so it was just a matter of choosing our selection really. The Halo & Co team were on hand to give great advice and I tried every last piece on (just because I could!) We chose a mix of designs from collections including their Timeless Classics and Vintage Lace ranges. Some pieces are just pure unadulterated sparkle, others incorporating Swarovski crystals, cultured pearls, ornate filigree and lace too. We have selected a mix of side headpiece styles, more traditional tiara styles and a selection of silver and gold pieces.

.

Our second collection of headpieces comes from British milliner Vivien Sheriff whom we chose as her designs were just so unusual and modern, yet with a traditional twist, and even the lovely Kate Middleton has been spotted in a few of her creations! Our selection includes fabulous birdcage veils in dusky pink shades such as the Rainflower birdcage, and more sparkley combs such as the stunning ‘Hearts Entwined’ comb, forehead bands, feather clips and headbands combining a mix of pearls, crystals etc.

.

I’m delighted to announce that we have just confirmed that we will be the first north-west stockist of the very wonderful Hermione Harbutt whose selection of jewellery and headpieces are nothing short of wow! Hermione’s pieces are stocked by prestigious and international designers and she has even been commissioned by the likes of Suzanne Neville and Stephanie Allin to create headdresses to complement their dresses. We have selected a stunning collection of her jewellery and some more elaborate headpieces from her collection, all of which work beautifully with our gowns.

.

.

Jonny Draper Photography

.

.

Where are you located?

.

We are located in Bowdon, Altrincham, Cheshire and we are perfectly located just off the M6, M56 and M60 motorways.

.

.

Can you give Brides Up North an idea on price?

.

Our dress collection starts from around the £1000 price point up to around £3000, with most of our dresses sitting comfortably under the £2000 mark.

.

.

Jonny Draper Photography

.

.

Do Brides Up North need an appointment?

.

Yes, we are appointment only and this is really to avoid disappointment as we pride ourselves on having just the one dressing room for brides to enjoy complete privacy during their appointments.

.

.

Jonny Draper Photography

.

.

What can Brides Up North expect when they come in for an appointment?

.

Our dream and vision for LOVE Bridal Boutique was to create a brand and a personality that comes across as soon as a bride comes into contact with the boutique, whether that be from stepping through our door, visiting our website or enjoying our facebook and twitter pages and ultimately wearing one of our dresses. That personality is one of individuality, warmth, helpfulness and understanding, completely ‘getting’ every bride that walks through our door and having knowledge about venues and suppliers so that we can make recommendations to our brides if they need it.

.

When a bride arrives at LOVE Bridal Boutique, aside from complete privacy by having a whole floor of the boutique to themselves, they will feel relaxed and at ease and will never be rushed during their appointment as we allocate at least an hour and a half for a first appointment giving brides the opportunity to try a good selection of gowns. We know that choosing your dream dress can be a tough decision so they will have my undivided attention throughout their appointment to offer help and advice and if that means trying that favourite dress on again (and again) then so be it! Refreshments will also be offered to a bride and her family and friends in the comfort of our dressing/sitting room with inspirational books to flick through whilst they are eagerly awaiting for that next dress to be put on. And what happens when they find the dress of their dreams with us? Well, there’ll be a big celebration of course!

.

.

Jonny Draper Photography

.

.

What is your current favourite gown that you stock and why?

.

Now this is an extremely tough question, and anybody who has ever worked in a bridal shop will tell you that their "favourite gown" can change daily if not hourly! It might be that you’ve just put a dress on a bride and it has looked amazing or it might be a new dress that’s just arrived and you’d forgotten how gorgeous it was since you ordered it (it can take a few months for them to arrive so this often happens!) My current favourite of the hour has to be Georgia by Heritage Bridal as she has just arrived into the boutique and I’ve just put her in the window, finished off with the gorgeous sparkly Halo & Co "Lacey’ headpiece.

.

.

Jonny Draper Photography

.

.

Is there a particular style of dress that is popular with your brides at the moment?

.

I’d definitely say that in the few weeks we have been open, lace has been a resounding hit and brides are still loving a good A-line dress with a hint of sparkle, for example our ‘Adelphi’ gown by Intuzuri which has been a clear winner with brides. You know the dress that you’ve always dreamed about since you were a little girl…well Adelphi is definitely that dress! Another very popular shape is the fishtail gown – brides are loving having the combination of a fuller train whilst still being able to show off their figure. Brides are also still really loving their straps.

.

.

Jonny Draper Photography

.

.

How does LOVE Bridal Boutique provide a superior experience to other wedding dress boutiques?

.

We will always strive to provide a high level of service to every bride that comes through our door – from simple things like offering our brides and their guests tea or home-made coffee from our lovely new coffee machine and brownies and cupcakes from our favourite baker, And The Dish Ran Away With The Spoon. We really do choose the best for our brides whether it be from our Cowshed products for freshening up in the bathroom to little things like having a hair clip on hand or shoes in the right size. Things that unfortunately not all bridal shops think about, and considering that buying a wedding dress is probably the most expensive item of clothing that most brides will ever wear and one of the most emotional shopping experiences they’ll ever have, it’s hard to believe that service and experience doesn’t always match up to this.

.

As I’ve already mentioned, every bride has the boutique to herself for her appointment which helps them to focus on our dresses and what they are looking for, with the help of friends and family. This is a point which has come up time and time again in the past with brides I have worked with, how multiple appointments taking place at the same time can really take away from their experience. No bride is going to appreciate their mum and friends being distracted by another bride when it’s their time to take centre stage after all!

We also pride ourselves on our little black book of suppliers. We don’t just recommend any supplier that gets in touch with us – after all how can we recommend something that we’ve never experienced? So any supplier that we will ever mention to our brides is tried and tested and is usually somebody that Jonny or I have worked with in the past and they know us well too. You’ll notice this from our ‘friends’ page on our website, as it’s so important to us it had to have a place on our website. We’re proud of the relationships we have built and we love to collaborate with them regularly to ensure that we’re always evolving and staying ahead of the game.

.

So overall, a personal, knowledgeable one-to-one bridal experience with lots of love and emotion added in too (I will most definitely cry if you do!).

.

.

Jonny Draper Photography

.

.

Who would be an LOVE Bridal Boutique bride?

.

A LOVE bride would be somebody who appreciates a fabulous experience and stunning dresses! She doesn’t have to know what she wants when she walks through the door, but she will by the time she leaves!

.

.

Jonny Draper Photography

.

.

Are you married?

.

I am indeed married! I wore a gown by Kate Sherford, I had always dreamed about wearing a dress with a lovely full skirt and that’s exactly what I went for – a combination of lace and lots of tulle and I knew from the minute I put it on that it was the one for me (and I couldn’t stop smiling!).

Taking To The Stage!

April 20th, 2012 | Julia Braime

.

I am one very excited this afternoon!

.

I am so very honoured to have been asked to be guest speaker at Lace Bridal’s North West Wedding Vendors Party next Thursday evening at Vale Royal Abbey in Cheshire.  This event is a BIT of a big deal, with over 150 of the North West wedding industry’s finest coming along to mix and mingle – including a visit from two ladies who create dream wedding dresses to die for – Charlotte Balbier and Caroline Castigliano.

.

It would be safe to say I’m also more than a little nervous about standing up in front of such a large group of assembled talents, but hopefully the heckling and Jimmy Choo throwing will be kept to a minimum!

.

On second thoughts, throw all the Choos you like!  Pairs in a size 7 if possible.

.

Now.  What to WEAR?!

.

Lace Bridal

.

.

If you are a North West wedding industry vendor who would like to come along, please email Katie at Lace Bridal: lacebridal98@gmail.com

.

In the meantime, I have the pleasure of sharing with you a special bridal shoot – shot by the photographer responsible for this morning’s gorgeous Real WeddingMartin Hambledon Photography, with gown supplied by Lace Bridal at this stunning venue.

.

And you might just recognise our beautiful model today… yes, that’s Sarah Jayne Dunn AKA Mandy offa Hollyoaks! My student days are coming flooding back right now.  Sarah will also be there next Thursday to say hello too.  Isn’t she gorgeous?!
