A couple of pints of coffee down my neck and I am finally back in the land of the living!

In case you hadn’t noticed (ahem), yesterday was the inaugural Brides Up North Luxury & Vintage Grand Wedding Exhibition at the National Railway Museum in York. And what a day it was!

I’m always super nervous before any big show. When something has your name on it you want it to go perfectly – how will it work logistically? – will my exhibitors enjoy the day and find it a success for their businesses? – will the space look aesthetically pleasing? – will I get the mountains of admin that comes with any big event done in time? – will I wake up for my 5am alarm call on the day?… and the big one… will anyone come?!

I needn’t have worried.

I love working with all my Yorkshire venues and the latest addition to our schedule didn’t disappoint. This really is a fabulous space: clean, bright, quirky and oh-so vintage. The National Railway Museum team are great to work with and every single one of my near 60 fabulous exhibitors (I really do feel very privileged to work with the region’s very best suppliers) went above and beyond to make their luxury and vintage displays some of the prettiest set ups that I have ever seen. Hat’s off to you Yorkshire!

So things were looking pretty sweet by the time the doors opened at 10am (it felt like tea time to me by then!) and I would happily have spent the next seven hours wandering the floor chatting to my lovely friends and admiring their beautiful work, but then…

You came!

And in your hundreds!

The brides, grooms and their bridesmaids, page boys, family and friends were out in force. At the last count we registered 239 brides on the door, and just under 1,000 people in all. Wow! I loved meeting you all, hearing your plans and seeing you leave so inspired!

After falling into bed early last night, I have awoken this morning to an inbox pinging with kind comments from brides and exhibitors alike, and the hard work and planning of the last 12 months all seems worth it. Thank you all for your constant and unwavering support.

The Deep

Becky, at The Deep says: When you think of The Deep, you probably just imagine an aquarium in the city centre filled with children. But what many people don’t realise is that we are licensed to hold weddings, civil ceremonies and receptions. We provide a range of options for people seeking an unforgettable and unique venue for their wedding.

Couples can get married at some fantastic locations within the building, including in front of our Endless Ocean tank with sharks, rays and other amazing species as their backdrop, or in the glass observatory with stunning views overlooking the River Humber.

To showcase our superb wedding facilities we are holding our third Wedding Fayre on Thursday 24th January 2013 from 7pm to 10pm, where brides, grooms, their families and friends are invited to experience the best our region has to offer in order to make their dream day happen.

The Deep

This well established exhibition is one of the biggest in the area since being launched in 2010 and will see over 40 exhibitors in attendance, as well as two catwalk shows.

If you are dress hunting then visit Jacqueline’s, It’s All About the Dress, Ella D and Sewing Solutions – offering a range of styles from modern to classic, contemporary to vintage. And not forgetting the men, Anthony’s Menswear and Day’s Menswear will also be exhibiting.

All brides and grooms want to look their best on their special day so have a chat with Kelly Clark Hair, Helen Guy Make Up Artist and Wide Smile Teeth Whitening.

The Deep

A whole host of car suppliers will be parked up including; Silverlane Wedding Cars, offering chauffeured British cars such as Rolls Royce and Jaguars; Spotlight Limo Cruisers, with a 16 seat limo cruiser; Marshalls, who specialise in vintage Humber cars; Hull Wedding Cars, with modern Mercedes and a Porsche Boxter and The Alternative Wedding Car Company for those wanting something a bit different.

If you’re looking for a photographer to capture your special day, then consider Karl Andre Photography of Willerby, Insight Photography of South Cave or Class Images of Lincolnshire. And for those searching for a videographer, we have Wedding HD and Eternal Edits. Or you may want to think about a photo booth from Booth 22.

The Deep

The images in this post are a cheeky peek – without giving much away! – at the amazing professional images by Joe Dodsworth Photography (dresses supplied by Curvy Bridal) from our photo shoot at Thorp Perrow, North Yorkshire, yesterday in advance of the Brides Up North Christmas Party being held there tonight.

You’ve probably guessed it already, given that I can’t stop talking about how gorgeous this venue is, but I am thrilled to be able to announce this afternoon that we are partnering with CWC Malings in the early summer of 2013 to open up this new wedding venue to the public and bring you a special marquee Brides Up North Luxury Wedding Exhibition at Thorp Perrow, with exclusive access to both this beautiful stately home and it’s utterly beautiful grounds. The date is set, so mark in in your diaries – Sunday 12th May 2013 – this is one not to miss.

And that’s not all! We do work hard here behind the scenes at Brides Up North you know!

North west brides, I have been promising an event your way for a while now and the time has finally come to announce our first Brides Up North event collaboration in the North West. Hurrah! I am over the moon to be working with the authentically vintage and fabulously stylish space that is The Bowdon Rooms in Altrincham to bring you your first ever Brides Up North Luxury & Vintage Wedding Exhibition at The Bowdon Rooms on Sunday 19th May 2013. Another one to mark down now – VIP Bride to Be registration will be open for both events very shortly!

So, the Brides Up North event calendar for Spring 2013 currently looks like this (er, wow!), with luxury bridal events with carefully selected partners at their stunning venues a-plenty. We are super excited to get this New Year started, and can’t wait to welcome you to one or more of our shows. This venue is magical and has to be seen to be believed.

NORTH EAST: Brides Up North Bridal Bonanza Grand Wedding Exhibition at Hardwick Hall Hotel, Sedgefield – Sunday 24th February 2013 (12pm – 4pm, Free Entry) – A huge show with 80+ of the North East’s best bridal exhibitors at this 4* country house venue – the setting for my own wedding, actually, with huge banqueting spaces and beautiful parkland. Throw in two professional fashion shows and this will be a day jam packed with wedding inspiration

Brides Up North Wedding Exhibition Dates for 2013

Brides to be, some dates for your diaries if I may!

After just closing a super successful and inspirational Autumn season of Brides Up North events (we do do ‘em best, even if I do say so myself), I can’t believe that we are already looking ahead to 2013 here at Brides Up North HQ. My inbox is already absolutely awash with enquiries from the regions’ best wedding suppliers, reserving their places at what look set to be an absolutely smashing series of Brides Up North shows in the New Year - I think I might be up until the early hours this evening! I can’t wait to get planning, and to see you – my lovely readers – at one or more of our events. Do say hello if you see me!

You know I’ll be reminding you about each and every one of these fabulous dates nearer the time, so for now, just mark ‘em in that calendar, and get on with browsing the rest of the pretty I have coming up for you on these pages. There’s a lot of it…
