She’s a Star! A Real Wedding, Meghan & Juan

Julia Smith

I think this bride looks like a movie star!  Her lace dress and beautiful red hair compliment her colour choices perfectly – add a dash of eggplant purple and this wedding is red carpet worthy!

Meghan tells Brides Up North all about her day: We got married on October 23, 2010 in Houston, TX. We chose this date because we’ve both always wanted a Fall wedding and weather wise, October is the best time to get married here. And we chose the 23rd because we liked the way it rolled off the tongue when saying the month and date!

My dress was by Winnie Couture and was custom made. I chose this dress because even the sample dress I tried on felt like it was made for my body. It flattered my shape so well and had the slightly vintage look I was going for. The veil is also by Winnie Couture and features the same lace hem that is on my dress.

Eggplant purple was the main wedding colour. I chose this colour because it’s my favourite and went perfectly with the time of year we got married. The richness of the hue is perfect for fall weddings and really worked well in our reception hall.

We chose Holy Rosary church as both our ceremony and reception venue. We fell in love with the architecture in the church and were pleasantly surprised that the reception hall boasted the same vaulted ceilings. We also loved the convenience of having the ceremony and reception on the same grounds.

The vibe we wanted for the reception was elegant, but laid back. That last thing we wanted was for it to feel ‘stuffy.’ We did all of the flowers (bouquets included) ourselves and kept decorations simple and low-key.

The table ‘numbers’ were places we planned to visit on our honeymoon to France.

We used Montage Photographers to capture our wedding day and were very happy with the pictures. We were so rushed on our wedding day and didn’t have much time for pictures before the ceremony, but Trung with Montage turned out some great shots.
