Oooooh! I do love it when I get to feature the Real Wedding of a couple whose engagement shoot I featured on these very pages a couple of months before, and such is the case with today’s lovebirds – Emma and Gary. We first met these two when McAvoy Weddings captured them surrounded by drills and paint cans in their new home, indulging in a spot of DIY. You can see the shoot by clicking here.

Thankfully, they left the ripped jeans at home on their gorgeous wedding day in Knutsford.

Over to Emma: We got engaged on 1 December 2010. The ring was hidden in the first box of the advent calendar but unfortunately by the time I opened it Gary had gone to London for work & I was in Manchester!
.
We were married on 17 December 2011 at Belle Epoque, Knutsford. We wanted an intimate wedding & the venue was perfectly suited to this.

We didn’t have a theme as such, but the mood of the wedding was centred around a classic & opulent look, with fuchsia accents.

I chose a classis, fitted style of wedding dress called Tatum by Victoria Jane for Ronald Joyce from Broadbents in Middleton, Manchester and carried a hand tied bouquet of David Austin Emily roses with
Astilbe, Claret astrantia and eucalyptus foliage by Jemma Holmes.

For a personal touch, we made the favours ourselves with retro sweets (from A Quarter Of) which all the adults loved. The kids also had personalised party bags which we again made ourselves and kept them occupied & happy during the speeches.

We chose a three tiered wedding cake with fruit, vanilla sponge and carrot cake. Topped with a gingerbread bride and groom!

Entertainment wise we kept it simple – a DJ to get the dance floor filled! It worked!

After the wedding we jetted off on honeymoon for a Christmas break in Berlin.

My top tip for other Brides Up North would be when planning the day, try not to lose sight of the fact that it’s actually about pledging your commitment to each other and at the end of the day it doesn’t matter how many bridesmaids you have, whether you have a chocolate fountain or who sits next to each other in the seating plan!

Congratulations Emma & Gary!
