Essential kit:  Factor 20 and a fascinator!

Regular wedding blog readers, and those who follow me on Facebook and Twitter will know that I’ve spent the past few days on location in (extremely) sunny Cyprus, shooting a short film with Thomson Weddings demonstrating a day in the life of a destination wedding.

What a location!  /  Multi tasking: from crew to wedding guest

It sounds like a cushy job right? Well, yes, I won’t deny that leaving rainy Blighty behind and heading to sunnier skies didn’t take much persuasion, but honestly? The days spent shooting were hard, hot work: retaking scene after scene to make sure that each frame looked and felt authentic, and to avoid catching nosy sun worshippers (closed set?  what closed set?!) on camera!

.

I can’t believe that all the hours of footage we shot in this stunning location will be condensed down into a mere three minutes.  Its going to be a gorgeous three minutes!

Keeping cool between takes / A wannabe film star avoids security

Lucky for me I was working with an amazing team of professionals, and all round lovely people – so although we were working (honest!), the shoot was filled with lots of laughs as we all pulled together to get the best result.

Keeping cool – each to their own!

.

.

Huge kudos to the Thomson Weddings team for drawing it all together so well (these guys really do know their stuff!), the cool as a cucumber video crew, and to our models Nicola and Matt for lasting all day under a relentless sun (something that real destination brides thankfully get to avoid – their ceremony lasts thirty minutes, not five hours!)

Forecast: Scorchio!

My role was to go behind the scenes for Brides Up North and Wedding Ideas Magazine (as well as playing the role of film extra!) and I’ll be reporting back on my experiences in full later on, but for now – without giving too much away – here are a few of my favourite off camera shots, hastily downloaded from my trusty SLR camera before my flight this morning. Enjoy, and I’ll see you at home!
