I just love it how darkening skies on Alice and Kristian’s wedding day didn’t spell disaster, just created the perfect moodily romantic backdrop for a stunning set of Real Wedding images, and actually worked with their ivory and deep purple colour scheme.
.
With words by real bride Alice and photographs by Brides Up North Featured Supplier Richard Wynn Davies, this is one perfect storm.

Alice says: We were married on 15th June 2012 in a Church in Carleton near Skipton and then onto a marquee at my Mum and Dad’s house in the same village. It was nice to have everything in the village where we live and quite personal to us.
.
We chose a palette of purple shades for our colour scheme, with a slight country garden feel.

My dress was a one shoulder dress and not too over the top as I wanted to keep it fairly simple. It was made by a family friend who is a seamstress part time at a bridal shop.
.
My bridesmaids wore two different shades of purple dresses, again one shouldered, from Emma Hartley Bridal in Colne.

To add a personal touch to the day, we had a sweetie table with a big range of our favourite sweets, a photo booth for the night do, a quiz about us for which we asked people taking part to donate money to Manorlands (a local hospice) and a hamper of toys for the kids to choose from.
.
We had three different kind of cupcakes, lemon, vanilla and chocolate decorated with icing, flowers and leaves on eight tiers with an iced fruit cake on the top decorated with butterflies by Fanticy in Skipton.

My top tips for other Brides Up North would be that things will go wrong or not go completely to plan but you will still have the most amazing day. Enjoy every minute of the planning and the day as it goes so fast, and finally book amazing photographers to make sure you never forget how you felt that day (we did!).

Congratulations Alice & Kristian!
