This afternoon’s Real Wedding, sent to me by Chris Chambers Photography and real bride Amy is a special one. And not just because the bride looked bloomin’ gorgeous (she did).
.
The setting for today’s feature is the venue for our Brides Up North Wedding Exclusive at The Mansion – a Luxury Wedding Exhibition this Sunday 7th October from 12pm – 4pm with free entry for visiting brides and their guests. As you can see from Amy’s gorgeous day, this private and boutique wedding venue is one for the fashionistas, and we have over 100 of Leeds’ chicest brides to be already pre-registered for the event.
.
If you would like to join them, click here to pre-register for speedy entry and your VIP Bride To Be Goody Bag, jam packed with discounts and treats, or read to the end of this post for more information. This is the only event to visit this Sunday in Yorkshire!

Amy says: We got engaged in July 2010, in the Roman Arena in Verona. We were just about to watch Madame Butterfly when Simon popped the question.

We were married on 3rd August 2012 at The Mansion, Leeds. The venue was absolutely beautiful, we loved that it had simple yet grand décor so we had a neutral canvas. Oh, and also the amazing chandelier! Gorgeous food. Fantastic staff… including James our wedding planner from Dine Services – he was brilliant. I could go on!

To an extent the wedding was Italy themed… table names being the Italian cities we visited the summer we got engaged. The favours also contained a mini Disaronno for each guest, and Bacci chocolate (with a love note in each). I chose cornflower blue as an accent colour.

I chose a Grecian style Maggie Sottero dress called ‘Caprice’ it had Swarovski crystals and pearls all down the back. I got it from Hayley at The Harrogate Wedding Lounge.
.
The bridesmaids dresses were a last minute purchase (four days before the wedding because the dressmaker completely messed up the ones we were having made) from Warehouse, on ASOS.com.
.
The groomsmen and Simon wore grey suits from Moss Bros, with blue cravats.

I carried a bouquet of blue hydrangeas with white roses, they were amazing. The night before the wedding me and my seven bridesmaids sat up making their white hydrangea bouquets ourselves – it was very easy, we stood them in a bucket in the bath all night, and trimmed the stems just as we were about to leave.

To surprise our guests we had a sweetshop, put together by ourselves. We also had a candyfloss machine, from Creative AV.

We had The Versonic play at our night do- we are friends with the lead singer, and think the band is ace, they play a mix of old and new songs and get everyone dancing and singing along. My 11 year old cousin surprised us by singing too.

We chose a three tier square cake with sugar paste blue hydrangeas on it, fruitcake and sponge.

After the wedding we honeymooned in Aruba at the Riu Palace Hotel.

My top tip for other Brides Up North would be don’t get bridesmaid dresses made…buy them, it will save months of stress! And give your parents jobs to do, they love it! Simon’s mum and her partner made all our favour bags up, it was such a help.

Congratulations Amy & Simon!
