Misty says: After eight amazing years together Tom finally proposed to me on 23rd December last Year. It was so romantic & out of the blue. We’d just finished wrapping the last of the Christmas presents & were sitting with a glass of wine when Tom asked me what one of the decorations was on the tree. It took me a while to spot that there was a new addition to the tree… when I turned around from retrieving the little box Tom was down on one knee! I just burst into tears… I was the happiest girl alive! I still am!
We plan to marry in the church in our parents’ village, Kirk Bramwith, Doncaster in July 2014. It is a tiny but beautiful Church. From there we will go onto the next village along, Fishlake, where we intend to have a relaxed celebration with those we love the most! The venue is an old windmill set in open country side, perfect for our vintage theme!
We first met in our village in 1995. My family moved in exactly a month to the date after Tom’s family. Our parents became friends almost straight away. At this point there was no romance as Tom is 6 years younger than me so we were essentially just kids.
Over the years we saw each other at local village parties & gatherings & Tom even worked for my dad during the summer holidays from school. I always remember my dad talking about what a good ‘kid’ he was & a good grafter!
Then, Tom went away for a year to Australia in 2004… still there wasn’t even an inkling of any friendship really never mind romance! When Tom came back from Australia I offered him a job in the Jazz bar I was managing based on the fact my dad has always spoken highly of his hard work & that he’d been working in some amazing bars & restaurants down under.
He used to stay over at my flat allot after work – on the sofa I might add – and we would always sit up until the sun came up just chatting & setting the world to rights… it was 3 months later when we had our first kiss!
I guess, looking back now, that those nights of hours of chatting & friendship probably deep down proved to me that that was the guy I’d always been looking for! Everything was so easy with Tom… it still is!
One other big thing in both of our lives is our love of live music, this had to be a deciding factor with the guy I would eventually marry! We now play in band together ‘Misty & Co’ hence the music theme to some of our pictures featured!
We just ‘work’, we never argue, we laugh an awful lot and can be pretty silly in each other’s company. We are a cuddly couple too! We are very much ‘family’ people and love both of our families so very much. We also have the completion to our relationship – our beautiful little girl, Ella.
Our biggest wish for married life is just to continue with the way we are now really, to just be happy. Oh, and if we are lucky enough, to have a brother or sister for Ella.
We’d never considered and engagement shoot but when we saw Sarah’s work we couldn’t resist getting some done, especially when she said little Ella could be involved too.
We loved it! Sarah made us feel so relaxed, Ella loved her too & had to have her Peppa pig camera out to copy her! It has been very reassuring having done this shoot that Sarah is the right person for us to capture our special moments on our big day.
Since the proposal I just love anything wedding related but Brides Up North was recommended to me very early on and I just love all the insights into what other people are doing, how they go about things and just enjoying seeing all the amazing suppliers like photographers, stylists, designers, florists, the list goes on…some very talented people out there!
We’ll be back to share our Real Wedding photographs with Brides Up North next year.
Congratulations Misty & Tom!
