Here at Brides Up North, we are all about the love!  It just so happens that your wedding celebration is also a time when kind family and friends are definitely going to want some pointers about what you might like as a gift to celebrate all that love. The presents are unavoidable – we’d suggest that you embrace them!  And whilst honeymoon funds and little nest eggs in the bank are brilliant, there’s something to be said to setting out on your future together with

lasting style

.

Having spent the last couple of days swooning over the gorgeousness that is Behind the Blue Door – a beautiful new online magazine from heritage homewares brand and Brides Up North Sponsor Wedgwood, we think it’s worth a look for any stylish bride to be. There are lots of styling, food and drink, music and fashion ideas that are the perfect inspiration for weddings or engagements.

You enter the site through a wonderful illustration of a stuccoed terrace by Sarah Maycock and then you sit back and ‘wander’ through a series of ‘rooms’, which is where the content is housed. Nothing we like better than a nosy, after all! The rooms are themed by event – there’s a Decadent Dinner room and a Weekender’s Brunch room but our favourite is Afternoon Tea: Reinvented.

I’ve always had a soft spot for the romance of afternoon tea and Behind the Blue Door takes a refreshing look at the nation’s favourite meal of the day. There are delicious new recipes, mouthwatering descriptions of the best places to take tea, pretty fashion pieces, hosting ideas and even expert tips on how to style your own tea to look stunning on Instagram.

Wedgwood is a bit of a British institution, but we had no idea that their tablewares were so pretty and fresh.  We love the quirky mash-up of heritage styles in Butterfly Bloom, while Daisy Tea Story has a more boudoir feel and Cuckoo is just super-pretty.

It’s definitely worth a look if you’re having an afternoon tea theme to your wedding or want to add some super pretty, collectable pieces to your gift list that will stand the test of time. Put the kettle on!
