We’re delighted to be sharing another love story here on the blog this afternoon, and this time we’re off to Manchester.
Teenage sweethearts Helen and Dan chose the city’s cool Northern Quarter as the backdrop for their engagement shoot, which features cool, urban buildings and impressive in-your-face street art.

helen says:
We got engaged in 2014. Dan proposed to me in Vietnam on a cruise across Haylong Bay. It was a total surprise, I wasn’t expecting it at all!We are getting married on 30th July at Lancaster Town Hall followed by a reception at Willow Barn at the Bay Horse Inn. It’s going to be a Harry Potter theme!
We met eight-and-a-half years ago when we were both 16. We played hockey for the same club and Dan told me that he’d like to go on a date with me. The rest is history! We had our first kiss when I was in my hockey kit and Dan was all dressed to go out, as I was home late from hockey. It was cute and awkward, which sort of sums us up!
We both knew that we were right for each other, even from a young age. We just get each other – it’s great!
What I love most about Dan is that he appreciates my weirdness and embraces my extravagance. He always knows how to make me laugh too. What I love least is that he snores!

I love that Helen is exciting and that no two days with her is ever the same, she’s always making me smile and laugh. Helen does have an annoying habit of not being able to sit still though – not even when she sleeps!
helen says:
Our biggest wish for married life is to stay as we have been for the past eight-and-a-half years.
We decided to have a pre-wedding shoot as we wanted to get used to being in front of the camera and also thought that it would produce some different photographs to what we already had. It was such a fun experience, we didn’t stop laughing all the way through. It made us feel more relaxed as Drew made us feel so at ease with the camera.
We love the photos from the photos from the shoot, they are so unique. We are in the process of having some of them printed and framed.
During the wedding planning process we have found Brides Up North to be a great website and it’s given us lots of ideas for our impending wedding!
