We’re stepping inside an enchanting Jacobean manor today for a dramatic, atmospheric styled shoot in Yorkshire.
Showcasing some of the best features that a wintery wedding has to offer – we’re talking bold bouquets, ambient lighting and a splash of gold – this styled shoot really brings the venue, Holdsworth House, to life.
Claire from The Bridal Emporium teamed up with a number of specialist suppliers from the north, including a magician. The group contended with some rather unforgiving weather on the day, but you’d never be able to tell from the fabulous photographs. If anything, the weather just adds to the drama of the images, helping us to fall in love with the beauty of a winter wedding all over again.

Our winter photo shoot took place in November last year and showed off the beautiful venue of Holdsworth House. Many brides and grooms get married in the autumn and winter seasons now and we believe you can still look stylish in the colder months. We think this shoot screams uber chic with a touch of elegance, perfect for modern couples looking for a little bit of an edge to their special day.
The team at Holdsworth House were in discussion about doing a shoot with photographer Tim Dunk for a while, then The Bridal Emporium wanted to collaborate with Tim too, which led to us looking at the venue.
We thought that the venue would make a fabulous location for a photo shoot thanks to its dark wood and stone paneling which perfectly suit glitzy numbers, soft lighting, strong cake designs and wintery colours.
I gathered a fabulous team together and showed them our mood board, which oozed sparkle, warm colours, kilts and a touch of romance.
We wanted to create a ‘real life’ photo shoot, to really show brides and grooms how their day could unfold against the stunning backdrop of Holdsworth House. To Have and To Hold Films captured the romantic essence of the venue on film, too.
The day was very successful; we managed to get full ‘real life’ shots, including interaction with a real magician – Matthew J Magic – plus outdoor scenes, even though the weather wasn’t good at all. Luckily, we’re a fun team of suppliers who can work well together, so the poor weather didn’t affect the shoot!
Amanda Moorhouse (Lipstick and Curls) has just moved up north and has been fabulous at getting involved with local suppliers. She gave the models a classic, vintage elegance to their hair and make up on the day.
It has to be said that Tim Dunk is an exceptional photographer and he managed to capture some amazing, moody shots of the venue.
As for the gorgeous dresses, these were supplied from Eliza Jane Howell & Casablanca Bridal, which can be bought from The Bridal Emporium. Meanwhile, the groom’s outfit was sourced from Yorkshire Menswear in Leeds.
Pamella Dunn Weddings set the scene for the shoot, with lots of glam, sparkle and a vintage twist. This was complimented by wintery themed bouquets from the amazing Faye at The Flower Shop in Ossett.
And let’s not forget about the epic deer cake – one of my personal highlights from the shoot – which was supplied by Zoe’s Fancy Cakes who created cake moulds galore!
