For some couples, there’s no better setting for their big day than their home. Given that there is space, we can see the attraction – a place that the couple feel comfortable in and know inside out, the ability to style the wedding exactly as they wish and the opportunity to party late into the night. What’s not to love?

Favouring an at home for these very reasons, today’s real wedding couple Katie and Jordan planned a traditional church ceremony followed by a marquee wedding at their house in Cuddington.

Now people, don’t let anyone ever tell you a wedding marquee can’t be glamorous because Katie and Jordan, with the help of some talented suppliers, absolutely aced the styling. They transformed the plain white canvass into a luxurious setting complete with opulent blooms, chic mirrored décor and gorgeous ghost style chairs.

We also have to say that we’re totally in love with Katie’s big day look; from that super-pretty Ian Stuart gown to her pale blue M&S shoes – pure top-to-toe perfection!

katie says: We got engaged in June 2015 while on our first holiday as a family after having our son, Jenson. We were in Portugal and went to one of our favourite restaurants, Piri Piri. I was already suspicious as family were acting strange! Jordan had picked the ring himself and it was perfect fit – everything, we celebrated with champagne!

We set the date for Saturday 8th July 2017. Our ceremony was at St John’s church, Norley, followed by marquee reception at our home in Cuddington.

We both wanted a marquee for the reception as we felt it would be more personal would give us control over everything. It also meant that we could carry on partying as long as we wanted, and could invite as many as we wanted!

Jordan and I had attend a lot of marquee weddings and so we wanted to make sure that ours stood out. We wanted it to look classy, glam and luxurious and so we picked a white, grey and silver colour scheme.

My wedding dress Paradis was by designer Ian Stuart. I got it from Maria Modes in Macclesfield. After trying on numerous dresses in numerous shops this dress just stood out as it was completely different to all the others!

I picked a pair of blue shoes from Marks & Spencer. I wanted to be able to wear them again after the wedding – which I have done many times already!

Lucinka Hodnett took care of my makeup for the big day and So Glamorous, based in Northwich, styled my hair.

Jordan wore blue suit with a grey tweed waistcoat, silver tie and tan shoes, all from Maria Modes’ menswear department. The groomsmen had suits to match and Jenson also wore a matching suit to his daddy.

My bridesmaids wore beautiful grey, full-length dresses from ASOS. Our little girl Erica wore a dress by Paz Rodriguez with matching shoes.

On the day of the wedding we travelled to church in a white Rolls Royce Ghost and matching white Range Rover from Cheshire Luxury Cars.

Our chosen photographer was Jess Yarwood, and we would absolutely recommend her to other couples. She makes you feel so at ease and is fantastic at her job! She has done shoots for us in the past and will do so in the future!

My wedding flowers were put together by my friend Jess Clarke. In my bouquet I had peonies, thistles, hydrangeas, wax flowers, lavender and succulents.

We had the same types of flowers to decorate the marquee, along with mirrored table numbers and plan, blossom trees and tea lights. All the marquee décor was provided and set up by our amazing marquee provider, Tent and Garden.

As favours we gave our guests mini bottles of sloe gin.

Our wedding cake was a four-tier creation made by Supa Dupa Cakes in Davenport. It was grey with white ruffle and flower detailing and consisted of chocolate, lemon, sponge and fruit layers. Every bit of it got eaten on the night – poor Jordan didn’t get any at all!

Our food during the day was supplied by Outside Food, based in Conwy. We had amazing canapés of salt and chilli squid and prawns, pork belly squares, duck hoisin filo, tandoori salmon and cous cous spoons, goats cheese arancini, lamb makhani tacos, smoked salmon and cream cheese. Main was fillet steak served with dauphinoise potatoes and trio of peas, and dessert was Malteser parfait for the men and lemon panna cotta for the ladies.

The evening food was served from a vintage French Citroen van by a company called Smohk and Mischief. They served up salt and chilli ribs, puled pork baps, mac and cheese and salad.

Angus Smellie at Aston Jones did the bar for us.

Entertainment-wise, we had the Undercover band do an acoustic set during reception and then they performed at night too! They were fantastic! We have seen them at hunt balls previously and came highly recommended! They played until 2am!

We also had a double vodka luge ice sculpture in evening, which was a huge success and great fun!

Our home in Cheshire was a beautiful setting for our special day helped by the weather! We would highly recommend Tents and Gardens to anyone considering a marquee wedding. They were amazing and dealt with everything for me – it was like having my own planner!

I absolutely loved the whole wedding day. The food and evening party were fantastic! I danced all night and could have kept going for much later than 2am! Having all our friends and family in one place to celebrate with us was also great!

We are going on honeymoon in the new year as we had our baby girl, Erica in January and so we wanted to wait until she is one before we leave her and our nearly three-year-old son Jenson, and head off the Dubai and the Maldives.

Just to point out, you don’t need to have room at home to enjoy a marquee wedding! A lot of marquee companies (ours included) have locations that they can suggest for you.
