We’re often asked if we love our jobs and the answer is “ab-so-flippin-lutley”, and who wouldn’t – working in a ‘happy’ industry with a whole host of talented creatives and truly loved-up couples – we’re quite literally in wedded bliss every day of the week!

A certain highlight of the year so far has to be a trip we took to Barcelona back in April for the city’s Bridal Fashion Week, to view the brand-new collections by some of the top Spanish designers – and my god, do these people know how to put on an impressive catwalk show. Forget a simple runway and rows of benches, we’re talking incredible, large-scale productions with the most amazing props, styling, models, lighting and music. And as if all that wasn’t enough – there was, of course, the dresses, which wowed to the max – giving us an exclusive first look of what’s to come in bridalwear over the coming year. So, ladies, you can trust us when we say that those of on the dress hunt are in for a real treat!

One of the most highly anticipated catwalk shows of Bridal Fashion Week is by our Sponsor, Spanish design power-house, Pronovias. Year on year this show is a huge talking point as the team raise the stakes time again to deliver a dazzling and unforgettable show – and they certainly didn’t disappoint this time round.

Held at the city’s Italian Pavilion, some 1,500 guests from around the world, including celebrities, media, international and Spanish socialites, influencers and boutique owners, gathered for the unveiling of the 2019 Atelier Pronovias Collection created around an ‘In Bloom’ concept.

With the dresses inspired by new beginnings the show set was a mesmerizingly-beautiful garden scene, complete with flourishing botanics, trailing florals and flowing trees as well as an impressive stone pavilion, arched structures and even a pretty wooden bridge over a stream-like pond.

We were already hugely-impressed, and this was without sight of a single bead or thread of silk. But then came the dresses, which wowed and delighted in equal measures, offering something to suit the dreams every bride.

Showcasing dresses with maxi volumes in dreamy princess styles; revamped yet effortlessly feminine empire cuts and A-line silhouettes; plus, gowns with simpler lines and straight silhouettes, the clever collection is said to “dress every kind of woman and enhance her beauty”.

Furthermore, the range gives brides the option to switch up their big day look with convertible designs featuring detachable and off-the-shoulder sleeves, and yokes.

We were all heart-eyes for the open backs and breath-taking necklines – deep Vs, off-the-shoulder and bateau creations – as well as the daring injections of suggestive transparencies and striking tattoo-effect geometric and floral details. The models rocked the high-fashion likes of Cassidy and Catia on bare skin, but these beauties can easily be made more bride-friendly with the addition of a simple slip.

In a nod to its ‘In Bloom’ foundations, a theme of nature was woven throughout in romantic floral appliqués and fine embroideries, with some of our personal favourites including Colombia, Carine and Carina.

All the dresses presented on the runway had incredible movement with the application of light feathers, delicate fringes and 3-D flowers on the necklines, the skirts, and the trains, transforming the dresses into truly unique pieces, particularly the full-feathered Capri.

Fabric-wise, Pronovias continued its commitment to carefully handpicked fabrics using French lace to maintain the essence of the collection, as well as silk crepe, silk tulle and Mikado. Inlays on embroidered tulle and ivory embroideries on the crepe, Mikado and tulle made gowns shine brighter than ever before and added to the collection’s whimsical charm.

Further statements included billowing yet delicate capes, fabulously long sleeves that fell softly to the floor and the use of gentle use of colour, in particular a hugely swoon-worthy pink ombre number that we only wish we could make official Brides Up North attire!

To appreciate the beauty of the new collection for yourselves, be sure to look out for these truly stunning designs arriving at an Atelier Pronovias stockist near you soon!
