Getting your Tuesday off to a glamorous start, we’re venturing to Selby in North Yorkshire, for a stunning bridal shoot in a venue that’s played host to everything from a textile factory and ballroom to a roller disco and even a nightclub.
Say hello to bespoke wedding planner Louise from Your Fabulous Wedding, who took her inspiration for the shoot from Instagram; from a black and white image of a table runner, to be precise! She crafted an entire shoot around this simple photograph and brought onboard a myriad of top local suppliers.
We just love the end result, which effortlessly blends the industrial backdrop of River Mills Ballroom with subtle accents of high-octane glamour and frivolity (look out for the inflatable flamingo), not to mention one of our favourite colours – hot pink.
The styling is gorgeous, with pretty floral arrangements and foliage strikingly offset by decorative elements, such as hexagon-shaped signage, shimmering gold hearts and contemporary stationery. If you’re looking to put a stylish and eye-poppingly beautiful twist on your big day, then call off the search, as all the inspo you need is right here!
louise says: The inspiration for the shoot started from an Instagram image of a black and white table runner! I was thinking of planning a glamorous shoot and the black and white stripes fuelled my inspiration for it. I knew I needed to enhance the black and white with additional colours and the hot pink and gold tones lent the right amount of glamour to the design.
I found the location – River Mills Ballroom – while searching for a suitable venue for the shoot. I loved the exposed brick and the character of the building and felt that this would be an ideal backdrop for the colours I was building into the shoot. The industrial feel of the venue contrasted beautifully with the glamour of the styling.
I was keen to use hexagons in the design and we incorporated these within the table décor, the cake – supplied by Where the Ribbon Ends – and the wooden décor items from Blue Sky Events. These were all designed in a glam style within the colour scheme. The David Austin roses supplied by Wild Flowers were the perfect shade of pink and looked stunning in the bride’s bouquet, as well as the table decorations. We paired them with lots of foliage to add texture to the design. Gray Starling Design, Extra Special Touch and Bramble Sky were all instrumental in achieving this look.
The model wore two different dresses from the Katya Katya range at Dotty Bridal. I wanted to incorporate some subtle colour within the dress and the coloured slips on these gowns were the perfect way to achieve this. We also opted for a glamorous style for the hair and makeup, by Carys Catherine, to complement the dress. We added a beautiful hair comb from The Bobby Pin and earrings to complete the look, with the beautiful jewellery supplied by Star Box Wedding Jewellery.
The shoot went really well. The suppliers worked together as a fabulous creative team. The aim was to showcase everyone’s skills and how well they can work within a brief and we absolutely achieved that.
River Mills is a relatively new wedding venue in Selby and it offers a fantastic option for couples looking for a stylish space that they can enhance. The team there were so helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them.
As a creative team we are looking forward to planning other shoots in the future, to help and inspire couples for their big day.
