Pack up your flip-flops and sunnies as we’re off to the coast for today’s fabulous styled beach wedding shoot. Inspired by our long hot summer here in the UK, wedding photographer Jane Beadnell teamed up with a group of talented northern suppliers to create this bold seaside shoot at Ainsdale Beach in Southport, complete with sand dunes, coastal waters and what Jane describes as an “intimate beach picnic”.
Beautifully complementing their natural sandy surroundings, the team coordinated some rather stunning floral arrangements, stationery and table decorations – think delicate shells, decadent candelabras and gold cutlery – alongside a statement mustard and blue palette. A horse even debuts on the shoot, in keeping with those dreamy wanderlust vibes.
Then there’s the wedding cake, which is a real showstopper – a five-tiered masterpiece with a subtle wash of blue through the icing, adorned with gorgeous sugar flowers. Almost too pretty to eat!
Amidst the rugged dunes, the model wore a demure lace and tulle gown, perfectly captured on camera flowing in the coastal breeze. This was flawlessly offset by the prettiest of flower crowns and tousled hair. We all want to be a beach bride now! As for the groom – his blue suit and golden button hole were the perfect match to his bride, if we do say so ourselves!
We think it’s about time we passed the blog over to Jane to give us all the behind the scenes details from the shoot – prepare for bundles of big day beach inspo!

jane says: With the summer heatwave in full swing, a beach themed shoot seemed like the perfect location for an inspirational shoot. As a team of creatives, we came up with a colour palette of soft and deep blues with mustard, golds and yellows. We envisaged the bride with a horse and were lucky enough to happen across a horse (and its owner) so we asked if we could have a couple of photos with our bride.
Claire-Amelia from The Bridal Emporium, knows the area, as her dad lives there, so we thought it would be a great base for getting our bride ready. The beach was really long and empty, which was perfect. It also has beautiful sand dunes, which gave us the soft backdrop we were after.
Laura and Hana from Ambience Harrogate and York styled a palette with mustard and blue fabrics; they dressed the ‘beach table’ with beautiful candles, plates and saucers. Otley-based JB Creatives also supplied some beautiful stationery.
Francesca from Frenchie Loves Flowers created floral arrangements with hues of yellows, blues, oranges and greens. She also made a giant arch, which she dressed with flowers for the ceremony space.
Dominique from Ilkley-based Poppy Pickering Cakes made a five-tier cake dressed with beautiful sugar flowers. Both the cake and the place names matched with their blue water colour.
The wedding dress had lots of beautiful layers of lace and tulle, and the veil had a shell-like scalloped lace edging. We complemented this with natural makeup and hair, styled by Elena Valentino.
We chose a blue suit for our groom to match with the colour palette. His golden coloured buttonhole made the match even more perfect!
The day was a lot of fun and most of us caught the sun! We set out to create an intimate beach picnic with a bold colour palette and everything came together beautifully on the day from all the different suppliers.
We had a lot of giggles on the day, walking through shin-deep and what I can only describe as sinking sand to get to the sea; as well as driving onto the beach and avoiding being towed off. The creative shoots are always a lot of fun.
Looking ahead to the autumn, in October I’m teaching my first photography workshop for photographers wanting to up their game in the industry or get more images for their portfolio, with its very own styled shoot for the photographers to capture, so watch this space!
