If you go down to the woods today… you’ll find us at the magical Camp Katur, an ‘off grid’ glamping site in Yorkshire.
With a dream team of local suppliers on board, this fabulously whimsical editorial shoot is all about the outdoorsy, ethereal feels, with flower crowns, wild rustic blooms, and stylish tulle and lace gowns all in check.
A palette of grey, dusky pink and jewel-toned burgundy blends beautifully with the woodland setting, with accents carried through in the décor, floristry and stationery. We’re talking touches of gold leaf, botanical hand-dyed silk ribbons and even pearls bringing everything from the tablescapes to the luxurious cake and scrumptious spread of macarons and cake pops to life.
As for the bridal attire – the group decided to showcase two stunning ensembles; a two-piece combining a high waisted, full-gathered tulle skirt with an intricate lace bodice and flared sleeves; and an unconventional grey-hued gown with a drop hem and train. Two very different buy wholly captivating looks perfect for the outdoor brides-to-be among you.

Natalie says: On a crisp, sunny February day, a selection of Yorkshire’s most talented wedding suppliers collaborated on an editorial shoot to showcase the opulence of a whimsical woodland bridal fantasy. I captured the magical results, where I realised the group’s vision of a unique wedding style that combined the ethereal with the elegant, and the playful with the truly luxuriant.
The photo shoot took place on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales at Camp Katur – an ‘off grid’ glamping site, set within a beautiful 250-acre English country estate, offering a variety of unique venue and accommodation options including a woodland ceremony space and a rustic barn. The very spirit of the location was relaxed, magical and rich in texture and the natural surroundings offered a wealth of inspiration to each of the suppliers.
Styling was by Amy Bramley, Ambience Venue stylist for Harrogate and North Yorkshire, who really understood the concept and brought all the rich details together to produce a display of whimsical sophistication that would lead to a truly memorable experience.
Floristry was supplied by Emma at The Petal Studio, whose natural and rustic style worked beautifully to dress the venue with lush arrangements of jewel-toned seasonal flowers, such as Ranunculus, Snapdragons, Narcissus and Thistle, which are especially popular this year. These were combined with green foliage and grey-toned Eucalyptus which looked amazing against the contrasting moody pink and burgundy tones of the bridesmaids’ dresses, supplied by Joy’s Bella Bridesmaids.
Bespoke stationery supplied by Somers Creative included elegant hellebore linework over deep burgundy and dusty pinks to tie in with the bridesmaid dresses and jewel-toned floral arrangements.
Place card tags for the table settings were hand-finished with opulent gold leaf and botanical hand-dyed silk ribbon from Bertie & Fred. The stationery’s clean hand-drawn, floral design spoke perfectly to the floral lace of the bride’s dress and some of the sweet indulgences supplied by Sweet Chic UK.
Helen at Sweet Chic UK even revealed hand-painted biscuits that perfectly matched the hellebore stationery design, as well as creating a showstopper of a cake with artistic, hand-sculptured buttercream, gold leaf and pearls for a touch of opulence.
Demonstrating that even abundant luxury can be informal and playful, Helen also crafted two separate dessert displays. The barn’s tablescape featured a distinctive white chocolate dipped strawberry tower alongside pink cake pops, mini meringues, and handmade chocolate baubles that nestled amongst the flowers and glassware. In the woodland, a scattering of fresh fruits with handmade truffles, chocolate flowers, mini meringues and macarons were used to create a second magical feast of sweet treats that was indulgently playful.
Our bride Angel’s first look was a made-to-measure two-piece ensemble that combined a high waisted, full-gathered tulle skirt with an intricate lace bodice and dreamy flared sleeves. A riot of soft sheer fabrics, intricate lace and wispy tulle. Once Upon A Dress finished the look with a chapel length veil, featuring delicate lace edging, to highlight the opulence of the overall style.
For the second look, we made the most of Camp Katur’s idyllic woodland ceremony area with a more whimsical, less traditional feeling dress. The ivory lace detailed bodice and full grey tulle skirt, with a drop hem and train, gave a playful look and revealed a statement shoe with added funky shoe clips.
Hannah at Joys Bella Bridesmaids dressed our four bridesmaids, models Jade, Chloe, Molly and Alisha, in burgundy and blush dresses by Motee Maids. Mix and match perfection! These dresses are perfect for allowing your bridesmaids to choose the neckline, shape and material which suits them best whilst still abiding by the colour scheme and vision of your day. Choosing complementary colours can really bring out the colours of the flowers, styling and add that little bit extra to the overall look and feel of your day.
Each of the bridal looks were complemented perfectly by the excellent work of Lottie Haigh Bridal Hair and Annabel Bailey Make Up Artist. Lottie’s styles featured soft textures with a relaxed and fun finish, each tailored to suit the bride’s and bridesmaids’ own hair whilst reflecting their personalities. Collaborating with The Petal Studio, Lottie also used textured fishtail braids to cushion and hold Emma’s gorgeous flower crown creations. Each hairstyle looked effortlessly elegant whilst maintaining a playful and relaxed appearance that was sure to remain in place.
Annabel Bailey’s skills were perfect for this photo shoot and kept the looks fresh and modern. While Annabel’s style is always tailored to meet the needs of individual clients, she provided a natural and flawless look that really complemented the feel of the shoot.
The day was jam packed full of fun, laughter and chocolates! What more could you want? It was so lovely to see all the suppliers work so well together and create something curated and beautiful. The only challenges we came across on the day were overcoming the harsh sunlight on the models and deciding where to set up first. We were spoilt for choice when it came to inspiring photo opportunities at this venue.
We are all preparing for the wedding season to spring upon us and very excited for what 2019 has in store. Watch this space for more epic shoots to come, this was definitely a dream team of talented creatives!
