Hollywood glitz and glamour comes to the north today, as we share this beaut of a bridal shoot in the heart of one of our favourite cities, Liverpool.

Against the utterly captivating backdrop of popular venue Oh Me Oh My, this shoot has got everything you could want from an urban wedding – jaw dropping skylines, an Insta-worthy rooftop garden and grandiose architecture.

Led by Angela from Flourish Flowers – the team brought onboard for this epic shoot showcase some really pretty styling that will have you pinning away to your heart’s content. We’re talking classic garden roses and gorgeous hand ties; luxurious dresses complete with tulle and a hint of sparkle for extra glam; and an understated bridal beauty look – think big curls, a dewy complexion and creamy lip.

If the idea of a sophisticated city wedding has now got you all a flutter with excitement – keep scrolling!

Inspiration

Angela says: Our styled shoot was the perfect way to showcase our individual styles whilst getting the chance to collaborate with other wedding suppliers. We have all worked together on real weddings and always wanted to have time to create a styled shoot.

Location

Our aim was to encapsulate a luxurious city feel, where our models resembled Hollywood movie stars with a beautiful skyline behind. Oh Me Oh My was an obvious choice as it is full of character – from the spiral staircase and marble pillars to the rooftop garden. Perfectly located by the Albert Docks opposite the Three Graces, this provided Nick from Madison Picture with great photo opportunities.

Styling

For the flowers, I chose a vibrant palette to bring rich jewel tones to the shoot using scented garden roses, Tess and Darcey – from my favourite rose breeder David Austin – in deep magenta tones as the focal flowers set among pink Ranunculus, hot pink Matthiola and Eustoma.

The flowers were designed in voluptuous hand ties with matching floral crowns rocked by Hannah and Isabella. They complemented the beautiful blush bridal gowns perfectly.

We created fun hand ties of Matthiola in pops of cerise and deep purples which contrasted with the bridesmaids’ dresses. For the table, we created a matching low cascading glass goblet centrepiece to tie in the bridal flowers and stationery provided by Danielle. These make a perfect centrepiece full of scent and drama.

Attire

Choosing the right gowns was a team effort. Once we knew the vision for the flowers, we wanted to create a palette that would complement this perfectly.

There is a massive surge in trend at the moment for a blush wedding gown with more brides saying yes to the dress in pinky tones. Based on this, we chose two gorgeous Essense of Australia SS19 gowns from Bellissima Brides. One was off-the-shoulder with a sparkle tulle layer and the other was a plunge ballgown with scattered appliques.

We also wanted to add in some classic ivory to really make the flowers pop. We chose the Morilee Pippa gown with its incredible train and beaded bodice. This gown is lightweight and easy to wear.

For the final shots, we chose a very special gown from Bellissima Bride’s exclusive Hayley Paige collection, the Markle. This dress definitely has the wow factor and sparkled away under the lights at Oh Me Oh My.

We chose two bardot Pia Michi dresses for the bridesmaids’ looks, these dresses would certainly make any maid feel amazing.

All of these dresses and so much more are available to try at Bellissima Brides’ exclusive, private boutique in Brimstage.

Beauty

Nicola Joyce created a classic bridal look but with a modern twist – a radiant, glowing base and a creamy lip. She used illuminating primers and setting sprays for long lasting makeup rather than classic powders and matte foundations.

Nicola wanted the hair to look soft and glamorous but not ‘too done’. The hair was set with large curls for a softer look and she used volumising powder to hold and set the style rather than hairspray. This ensures the style is long lasting but doesn’t look stiff and over sprayed.

This style is perfect for a bride who likes a classic look but doesn’t want it to feel dated.

Results

We had such a fabulous day at the shoot and there were so many highlights! It’s great to meet a bunch of likeminded people in this industry who really ‘get’ the vision.

We would have to say working at Oh Me Oh My was just gorgeous; we were so lucky with the weather, being able to get such amazing shots outside the iconic Liver buildings and Liverpool skyline.

Throughout the shoot Hannah and Isabella worked really well together bringing a fun atmosphere and they looked absolutely stunning. We all thought the finished shoot went amazingly well – we’ve already started planning our next styled shoot and couples can also book packages with us.
