Look Book: Caroline Castigliano ‘I Believe In Love’ 2020 Collection

30th August 2019 | Rachel Hirst

What better way to end the week than with a first look at the heart-stoppingly beautiful new 2020 collection from our Sponsor and top British bridal designer, Caroline Castigliano.

As huge fans of Caroline’s work we are always hugely impressed with her amazing gowns, featuring signature expert corsetry and classic lines for a cut and fit like no other.

For this latest collection, the skilful designer has taken inspiration from classic fashions of the 50s and cleverly combined them with current trends resulting in timeless yet totally wow-worthy pieces.

Continuing to ace super pretty gowns with understated detailing and beautiful movement, we are totally in love with the 2020 collection’s stunning soft skirts and voluminous A-lines, but are equally taken with new additions in the form of sharp tux elements and stylish separate pieces, giving brides the dream opportunity to switch up their look from ceremony to evening.

So, join us as we welcome the wonderful talent that is Caroline Castigliano, to talk us through her most recent spell-binding designs…

Can you start by giving us a brief overview of your gorgeous 2020 collection?

Caroline says: The ‘I Believe In Love’ 2020 collection is ultra-feminine featuring classic lines with contemporary styling. Inspired by the modern bride, the collection introduces decadent fabrics and embroideries across signature and new shapes.

Where did you draw inspiration from for this particular set of dresses?

I love classics from the 50’s and fashion of today and try to fuse these two elements together.

Can you tell us about the various styles and silhouettes of the gowns within the collection?

Our statement structured corsets come in a variety of different forms including our classic corset, stretch corset, basque style and bra cup corsets. All of which truly define the figure and create a fabulous silhouette. I have balanced this with soft skirts including fit and flare skirts, delicately beaded A-line shapes and couture belle shaped skirts in damask textured fabrics. The collection is diverse and offers designs that are understated and also statement pieces.

And what about the fabrics, detailing colourways?

The collection features luxurious silk crepes, satins, organzas and also introduces textured damask fabrics. Ivory is the main colourway with accents of soft silver, pink and water-coloured mocha.

Do you have a particular favourite within the collection and, if so, what is it that you love about this particular gown?

In this collection I really love a lot of pieces and all for totally different reasons. Luciana is certainly one, the simplicity and effortless style is exactly what the brand is all about. Tahiti is another favourite, with the stretch corset and beautiful 3D lace teamed with a full silk organza skirt make this fresh and romantic but I also love Elodie and Alice for their clean lines and the modern classic vision they create.

Which design from the collection would you suggest for a bride looking for traditional elegance?

Definitely Elodie. This is a box pleated skirt in a stunning damask fabric with a classic corset and wide stylish off the shoulder cuff – modern traditional elegance.

And what design would you suggest for a bride wanting more of a statement gown and why?

Luciana, this is a very special gown that makes a powerful statement, it is all crepe with a satin neckline and cuff.  Although very simple when worn could not be more powerful and teamed with a veil is utterly stunning.

Are there any key Castigliano shapes/necklines that have been continued in the 2020 collection?

We have signature classic shapes that brides love and always ask for, so these continue through the 2020 collection. Our corsets are very much key to our collections and our layered silk organza skirts are also very much part of the classic Castigliano style.

And what new design elements have been introduced for 2020, have these been influenced by current trends in fashion?

New design elements in the 2020 collection include textured fabrics, the tux look and a slightly playful sensual feel in the dresses. Key separates have been introduced, including a tailored jacket, shrugs and trousers, which can transform a brides look from reception to evening effortlessly.

What type of bride is a Caroline Castigliano bride and what is it that ladies love most about your gowns?

A Castigliano bride is into fashion but not ruled by it, she loves quality and simplicity and understands that chic style is effortless.

Where is the 2020 Collection available from and what is the size range of the dresses?

Caroline Castigliano gowns are available at exclusive boutiques across the country. Sizes range from 6 to 24.
