LOCATION: YOUR GARDEN – #STAYHOMEWEDDING

Julia Braime

When a team of the North West’s very best wedding creatives take on a pandemic, you can be sure that they do it in style. Presenting… The Stay Home Wedding!

Desperate to get back to work, Sarah of Sarah Glynn Photography and Stacy of Love Lights The Way gathered a small team of socially distanced wedding geniuses to prove that couples can still have the most amazing, intimate yet safe wedding ceremony at their own home… in their own garden and without compromising on the vibe!

You can still marry the love of your life in style, and then when COVID-19 is a distant memory, have the best party ever!

LOCATION & INSPIRATION

Sarah says: With The Stay Home Wedding, we wanted to illustrate just how magical and amazing this option could be. We really thought about the suppliers involved, only having permitted numbers on site at any one time, as we wanted to make sure our brief was achievable.

Lighting and photography was our initial starting point. We began with the concept of creating a beautiful, romantic space in your garden (or the garden of a family member or friend) – then stepping this up to achieve the day of your dreams, with the people you really love.

The shoot was actually in my garden! It was very important to us that we were shooting within the brief of what we wanted to showcase to our couples, so it had to be one of our gardens. No purpose built or wedding specific venue would have been authentic enough.

As suppliers within the wedding industry we see things that couples maybe wouldn’t: we see the next trend, the next possibility! We see potential in locations, and know how to transform these spaces, large or small.

STYLING

Stacy says: My business, Love Lights The Way, set the lighting up around the garden with some vintage Edison festoons. As soon as they were switched on the garden came to life! The lights created a space to celebrate in, a place to say ‘I Do’, a place to share memories and to enjoy this time with your nearest and dearest.

Sarah’s garden has some beautiful old outhouses so we also covered these in twinkly fairy lights – and as the day went on and the numbers necessarily reduced, these came to life along with the festoons to create an intimate and romantic feel. It was perfection.

Although wedding receptions aren’t yet permitted under current guidance, we wanted to plan ahead to showcase what could be achieved as restrictions ease further. The table and styling was just so elegant and beautiful. Corrie from The Soiree Stylists absolutely brought the whole day together with her styling. This shoot was a wonderful opportunity for her to go ‘all out’ with the styling & extra details… a venue stylist’s dream come true!

She mainly focused on styling elements that would really indulge the couple’s favourite people and add thoughtful touches throughout the venue. Additions such as luxury favour boxes wrapped in beautifully tied napkins added a touch of opulence to the table styling and Corrie focused on making social distancing feel less awkward by filling the extra space between place settings with coloured/textured glassware in tones of smoky grey and soft blush.

As always, we were spoilt for choice with the range of crockery & glassware from Whitehouse Crockery; they are the team’s go-to supplier for tableware because their range is just so beautifully vast and the quality and service is exceptional.

Stationery was also an important element of the styling. Corrie created pieces that felt just as luxurious as they looked. Paper elements such as hand calligraphy ‘Get Cosy’ tags with silk ribbon for the guest blankets also added chic little touches to other areas of the venue.

Red Floral’s table spray fit with the styling perfectly, with lots of flowy Pampas Grass adding height to give the table a really beautiful, airy, luxury feel. The bridal bouquets were just stunning, packed with flowers of all sizes and in shades of pastel pink, that complimented all the other styling.

Once food and drink can be re-incorporated into wedding ceremonies and celebrations, the sponge cake that Sugar Wishes supplied would be dreamy. The colour palette worked perfectly with cascading fruit and barely there icing, and we amped up the welcome table with the coolest text printed biscuits from Pink Cocoa.

For those of us lucky enough to be on site all day, the pizza from Whisk & Pickle was out of this world and the Dubbly Bubbly Prosecco van is an absolute #goal! Who doesn’t love stone baked pizza and ice cold bubbles or beer from a VW camper!

Balloonsmith tied the front and rear garden spaces together with the most beautiful balloon displays. Balloons are always a must for a garden event – the movement they add is just perfect!

ATTIRE

Sarah says: Helen from Rock The Frock supplied the bridal dresses and they were all by the fabulous Otaduy. She styled the simple, flowy two-pieces with feathers to add texture, and satin for a hint of 50’s glamour with a modern twist.

The feather and shimmer shoulder cape Helen styled one look with was just jaw droppingly beautiful… we wanted to take it home with us!

The flower girls wore Roco Clothing. Laura supplied a range of stunning young girls’ dresses that were not only beautiful but the girls absolutely loved wearing them – they could play, run and jump in them all – without ever substituting style over comfort! The dresses were beautifully stitched and embellished with lace and sparkles a plenty.

The Bobby Pin supplied some stunning jewellery for the bride and flower girls. Their bespoke range is stunning.

BEAUTY

Sarah says: Hair was all done outside in the garden during setup, and was beautifully styled by Chrys Chapman, in a half up and down style with lots of tousled, textured waves around the face and skimming the shoulders.

Make up was applied by the model herself under Chrys’s expert guidance, whilst social distancing. This was a surprising highlight and the model absolutely loved learning the ‘expert know how’ of doing this herself from a professional. Chrys focused on soft peaches and pinks to create a romantic look.

We really wanted to embrace the trends for S/S 2020 and also make it something a bride would actually feel comfortable wearing in their garden, all the while still looking totally beautiful.

RESULTS

Stacy says: We had the perfect weather, the perfect suppliers and the day literally flew by… we couldn’t have asked for more – it showed us that this is an amazing way to get hitched! Sarah’s style of photography was perfect for this shoot and feel – the images had to be real and had to show the true emotion of the day. Even though this is a photoshoot and the guests here are actually suppliers, this looks like a real wedding and not a styled shoot. This is testament to Sarah’s skills.

A particular highlight had to be how much the bridesmaids loved it. The flower girls were adorable and had such a great day, they fed off the vibe and did not freeze up or feel nervous at all! Another bonus to The Stay Home Wedding is that the pressure is well and truly off, this is about you marrying the one you love, with the closest friends around you in your own environment and in your element. Nothing but LOVE!

COMING NEXT

Sarah says: There’s a whole lot more coming very soon! We are going to keep showing you how to rock The Stay Home Wedding in different ways with more shoots to follow as the restrictions ease further.
