Authentic Love. A Styled Wedding Shoot at Wharfedale Grange

11th September 2020 | Sarah Symonds

Neon signage juxtaposed with rustic exposed wood, strings of festoon lighting and dreamy full-on romantic bridal gowns – today’s styled shoot concept at the delectable Wharfedale Grange is a good’un!

Get ready, wedding couples. We join wedding photographer Charlotte Nelson and her gang of super strong local suppliers as they celebrated the easing of the lockdown restrictions with a styled shoot we know you’re going to love. We’ve got fresh, modern and romantic bridal looks for you boho gals, so sit back and soak it up.

From fun and silly poses (with a real life couple playing the bride and groom!), lots of real emotions and the glow of authentic love, the shoot has captured some amazing, picture perfect moments and it’s amazing to see the suppliers come together to support each other at such a strange and tough time for the industry.

INSPIRATION

Charlotte says: The backdrop for this shoot had to be as unique as the times we are living through, but also encompass an optimism for better times ahead. Basically we wanted to celebrate, and where better to imagine our next great shindig than the utterly unique Wharfedale Grange, Yorkshire’s most luxurious barn conversion.

LOCATION

Set amongst gorgeous fields, perfect for frolicking through, the main barn with its record-breaking rose gold disco ball and quirky finishing touches, Wharfedale Grange is rustic-chic incarnate, bedazzled with a whole lot of fairy lights.

STYLING

Because you can never have enough lighting and venue bling, the venue was lit with illuminated LOVE letters and custom neon creations by the north’s must-have venue dressing team, Love Lights the Way.

Florals were kept in a modern neutral palette of white and green, all created in house by Wharfedale’s own floristry team, Flowers By Wharfedale Grange.

As a Yorkshire based photographer, I pride myself on capturing natural, beautiful, unscripted moments. Fortunately, as our models were a real-life couple, due to be married in just a few weeks time, they were the perfect subject for this styled shoot. Romance is really hidden in moments between two people, not in awkwardly posing couples. I was able to catch authentic moments and that made all the difference to the shoot.

Inspired by delicate lace wedding dresses and the neutral floral colour scheme of white and green, a simple modern tiered wedding cake with clear tiers embellished with a delicate stencil effect and pretty delicate sugar floral blooms was created by Ilkley based, Poppy Pickering Cakes.

ATTIRE

Founded on a love of bridal fashion and a passion for delivering an exceptional bridal experience, The Harrogate Wedding Lounge provided the impeccable gowns by Justin Alexander and Maggie Sottero.

Adding a fierce touch of feminine glamour to the bridal looks were delicate hair accessories and earrings provided by The Bobby Pin.

The beautifully handcrafted fine jewellery that adorned the bride and groom were created and provided by Ian Henderson Jewelry Designs.

BEAUTY

Hair and makeup were kept soft and subtle but thoroughly modern to work with the theme of the venue, the romantic feel of the gowns and the bride’s personality. The makeup was facilitated in line with government guidance and designed to accentuate the bride’s features, in hues of blush and rose gold.

RESULTS

The team behind the shoot continue to eagerly await government advice on the further reopening of the industry, with public safety paramount. They all continue to support each other, and their couples. Most especially, we are keeping fingers crossed for our real life couple models, who are hoping to tie the knot later this year.
