Welcome To Yurtshire! A Countryside Wedding Shoot in Yorkshire

09th March 2021 | Rachel Hirst

Focusing on versatility, diversity and sustainability, there are many layers to this gorgeous styled shoot that we’re showcasing on the blog today.

Led by luxury wedding planner and UNVEILED Network Member Hannah of Hannah Rachael Weddings, the aim was to highlight the beauty of the great outdoors and yurts’ versatility as a dream wedding setting. Furthermore, she wanted to break down barriers around disability and encourage more diversity in the wedding industry. As such, Hannah looked to Zebedee Talent – a specialist modelling agency passionate about redefining the perception of beauty, disability and diversity – to find the star of the shoot, Lucy.

Captured at stunning glamping and wedding destination Yurtshire, in Ripon, North Yorkshire, there is so much to admire about the shoot, both in terms of ethics and aesthetics.

Taking inspiration from the natural beauty of the surroundings, the styling centres around a fresh and pretty palette of white, greens, lemon and wheat. The beautiful undone florals take the lead for the tablescape and decor with botanical influences, then flowing into other enchanting details, such as the stationery and cake.

Model Lucy’s ethereal look brings the whole shoot together perfectly, with the detailing on her Enzoani ball gown even echoing the floral elements.

Hannah, who dealt with the shoot concept, planning and styling, is here to tell us more…

CONCEPT

Hannah says: This shoot was all about showcasing the splendour and joy of being in the great outdoors. It was crucial to me that we created an elegant and refined intimate wedding set-up to showcase just how beautifully versatile yurts can be.

Throughout this shoot, it was also important to showcase how diverse love is, how it contains no limits and understands no boundaries and the importance of showcasing diversity and disability. This is something that I currently feel is underrepresented within our industry, and hope as a wedding professional; I can do more to breakdown these barriers.

LOCATION

The shoot was set in the tranquil grounds of Yurtshire, Ripon, which enabled us to encapsulate the unrivalled beauty of nature itself. The yurts here, belonging to UNVEILED Network Member Yorkshire Yurts, are super beautiful, and so I wanted to showcase everything from the handcrafted steamboat wooden lats to the solid oak doors and natural canvas. I wanted the yurt to be focal to the styling, showcasing just how versatile they can be.

STYLING

Our colour palette contained crisp whites, greens, lemon, and wheat, which I chose to add a beautiful brightness to the yurt. I love this palette as it’s soft yet crisp and refreshing and would work well in any venue, from a barn or stately home to a marquee. It is just so effortless and timeless and could easily be used by couples getting married in any season.

I worked closely on the shoot styling with the wonderful UNVEILED Network Member Jill from The Little Flower Hut, as I just adore the way she creates florals arrangements full of movement, freedom, and impact. The fact that Jill also only uses sustainable methods, products and local flower growers within her work is something that really resonates with me. I believe as wedding suppliers, it is our duty to make sure, where possible, we are minimising our impact on the environment. Jill created the most beautiful bouquet, finished with Laik Style ribbon. For the decor, she then created stunning microfloral arrangements and a hanging chandelier, which paired perfectly with the elegant and refined styling of the tableware, linen and stationery. The linen was provided by Amy at Ambience Harrogate, the crockery and glassware were supplied by Whitehouse Event Crockery, and Sarah at UNVEILED Network Member White Orchid Print & Design designed the stationery.

Our cake was supplied by Folia Cake Design, who did an impeccable job of capturing the delicate nature of each flower in sugarcraft form. The cascading florals echoed the overall styling and décor choices throughout.

For any couples who love details and want to add a subtle hint of luxury, then this style of décor really is for them! I wanted to showcase how yurts can be styled in a variety of ways and that couples do not have to opt for pampas grass, lanterns, and peacock chairs in order to create an impact.

ATTIRE

Our beautiful model Lucy wore the stunning Nyree dress by Blue by Enzoani supplied by the lovely Emma at Perfect Daze Bridal another UNVEILED Network Member. This romantic, modern princess dress complemented the whole aesthetic perfectly. The floral embroidered lace detailing on the dress’s bodice echoed the florals throughout effortlessly, adding to the elegance and sophistication of the whole shoot.

BEAUTY

Emma of Eva Jane Hair styled Lucy’s hair. She opted for soft curls and finished the look with a delicate clay and mother of pearl floral hairpiece. I chose this hairpiece as it echoed the delicate, crisp detailing we wanted to achieve. It was also important that any accessories chosen complemented the beautiful floral detailing on our Nyree dress.

This meant we could afford for Lucy’s makeup to be slightly bolder and to add a touch of glam by incorporating some bronzy tones and a statement pearl hoop earring. UNVEILED Network Member Sophie Healey MUA took care of makeup, and the accessories were supplied by fellow Member Victoria Louise Accessories.

RESULTS

Throughout the shoot, it was important to me to showcase how diverse love is and how important it is that we, as wedding professionals, are reflecting true love stories. Disability within the wedding industry is something that I personally feel needs to be discussed and addressed. We need to do more to break down barriers and be understanding of what we need to do to be inclusive.
