An Elegant Wedding Inspiration Shoot at Burton Constable Hall

Rachel Hirst

If majestic grandeur is your big day bag, prepare to be swept off your pretty little feet by the stunning styled shoot that we’re sharing on the blog today.

Here at Brides Up North HQ we see our fair share of gorgeous shoots, but we have to say that we fell especially hard for this splendorous collection of images, captured at East Yorkshire venue, Burton Constable Hall & Grounds by talented UNVEILED Network Member Aaron of Beyond The Frame Photography.

Though the breathtaking building dates back hundreds of years, it has only recently been licensed to host marriages and civil partnerships, meaning that this historic beauty has something new to offer.

Having consulted and advised on how best to execute dream weddings at the Hall, Beverley-based wedding planner and UNVEILED Network member Helen Davies, planned this sensational shoot to show off all the incredible spaces that can be utilised by brides and grooms at the venue.

And it’s not just the Hall and Grounds that will send you weak at the knees. Cue an abundance of super dreamy details too, from truly enchanting tablescapes laden with towering candles to whimsical blooms, gold-foiled stationery and sophisticated attire. Every frame is brimming with captivating class and character.

Now, over to Helen to fill us in on this exquisite venue offering as well as the contributions made by some of Yorkshire’s very finest suppliers.

CONCEPT

Helen says: The purpose of the shoot was to create some inspirational images that we could use to raise awareness of weddings at Burton Constable Hall & Grounds, as the venue has recently been licensed for marriages and civil partnerships.

Back in October 2019, I was invited by the Board of Trustees who govern The Burton Constable Foundation to visit Burton Constable in order to assess its suitability for weddings and events. I was quite astonished to discover that this spectacular setting had never before operated as a wedding venue or been available to hire, either exclusively or in part, for weddings and events.

Over the course of the next six months, whilst working as a consultant alongside key members of the senior management team, I designed a plan, enabling The Burton Constable Foundation to realise the benefits associated with hosting weddings and events whose intention was to achieve this without compromising the experience of visitors who enjoy the Hall and Grounds on a daily basis.

We developed a very clear vision of what a wedding at Burton Constable Hall might look and felt like, and in order to bring that vision to life, it was necessary to create a collection of beautiful shoot images.

LOCATION

Set amidst 330 acres of elegant English countryside, Burton Constable Hall offers a breathtakingly beautiful backdrop for your perfect day. From the majesty of its sweeping driveway to the intimacy of The Carriage House, which accommodates smaller wedding receptions with up to 50 guests, no matter what the occasion; grand or intimate. Indoors or out. Burton Constable offers a choice of event spaces ideal for weddings, parties and all manner of celebrations.

Licensed for marriages and civil partnerships, The Great Hall provides the perfect setting for your wedding ceremony with up to 100 people. The Orangery and its sweeping lawn is the ideal place for an outdoor wedding ceremony with up to 150 guests. The Barn at Burton Constable is also licensed for marriages and civil partnerships and provides the ideal space for large wedding receptions and celebrations with up to 400 guests.

The venue offers a great deal of freedom and flexibility. It is incredibly versatile and is yours to personalise. Every aspect of your experience at Burton Constable Hall and Grounds can be tailored in accordance with your individual preferences. This is certainly true when it comes to organising your catering. Rather than expecting you to choose from a selection of set menus, our experienced and knowledgeable catering partners will guide you through a process that not only enables but encourages you to create your own. In doing so, your experience here won’t be compromised by restrictions, nor will it feel stuffy or pretentious – it will be fun!

STYLING

From the gold foiling on the bespoke stationery created especially for the shoot by UNVEILED Network Member Raspberry Toast to the exquisite, oh so delicate handcrafted sugar flowers adorning the cake designed by Grace Eva Cakes, the styling of each individual element of the shoot emulated a classic and sophisticated look and feel. This complemented the setting whilst allowing the many beautiful features of the Hall and the incredible scenery in which it is located to take centre stage.

The venue styling was taken care of by UNVEILED Network Member Belle Bijoux Events and Cherry Williams Party Hire with flower arrangements supplied by Louise Pepper and crockery, cutlery and glassware supplied by Event Crockery Hire. Our celebrant was the lovely Penelope Jayne and we had a gorgeous vintage care supplied by Silver Lane Wedding Cars.

Event lighting was provided by Freestyle Pro Audio Visual, based in Hull.

Overall, our objective was to create a collection of images and film footage in order to showcase the very best of what Burton Constable Hall & Grounds has to offer.

ATTIRE

As we are committed to supporting local businesses, the majority of suppliers who were invited to collaborate on the shoot are based in and around the East Yorkshire region. This included UNVEILED Network Member Jacqueline’s Bridal Boutique in Beverley, with whom I have had a relationship for a number of years. Having recommended Jacqueline’s to a number of brides who have been delighted with the service they have received and in the knowledge that the boutique stocks such a wide variety of designs, they were the obvious choice.

Our bride model’s hair and makeup was taken care of by Makeup by Lillie.

Admittedly, we ventured a little further afield in order to acquire the groom’s attire. After all, a correctly fitted, high-quality suit is a prerequisite for any gentleman attending an event at such a prestigious venue, particularly if he is the groom!

Established in 2005 and steeped in Yorkshire tradition, Hemingway Tailors are considered by many to be the ‘Savile Row of the North’. Working closely with proprietor Toby, who has an eye for textile detail and provides personalised service for a discerning client base, I selected a beautiful, ready to wear three-piece suit. This was accessorised with a tie and pocket square, complementing the subtle accent colours incorporated into some of the flower arrangements.

RESULTS

Overall, the shoot was a complete success. Everyone involved, including all of the members of the Board of Trustees who govern The Burton Constable Foundation and the senior management team at Burton Constable, are absolutely delighted with the results, and personally, I believe Aaron’s incredible images speak for themselves.

Ultimately, being able to share a collection of images such as these in order to showcase the very best of what Burton Constable Hall and Grounds has to offer is a privilege that would not be possible without the support of an incredible team. Each and every person involved worked extremely hard and went the extra mile in order to deliver such beautiful results. It was a tremendous team effort, and I am so grateful to everyone.

Not surprisingly, since Burton Constable reopened its grounds to visitors on Monday 12th April and announced that the venue is now licensed for marriages and civil partnerships, we have been very busy responding to enquiries and taking bookings.
