Deep plums and purples for today’s beautiful, classy yet natural styled wedding inspiration shoot giving us all the romantic and intimate vibes on the waterside, at Brockholes in Preston.
UNVEILED Network Member Susan of Elizabeth Anna Cake Design is behind the concept for today’s shoot, and the wonderful cake too, of course! Based in Burscough in West Lancashire, Elizabeth Anna Cakes offer beautiful and elegant wedding bakes and sweet treats across Lancashire, Cheshire and Merseyside. This time they’ve also joined forces with some other skilled local suppliers and come up with a gorgeous shoot to inspire and impress. If you’re planning a wedding in or around the Lancashire area, you won’t want to miss this one!
We especially love the way the suppliers have worked together to accentuate and complement the surroundings and features of the space, truly crafting a setup to fall in love with. The contrast of the rich, smart burgundy tones with the natural grasses and more bohemian, wooden details is the stuff styling dreams are made of.

Susan says: The purpose of the shoot was to showcase the natural surroundings of this venue. We brought the outside inside with little details on the tablescape. We used deep colours of purple and burgundy throughout the shoot to pop against the natural grasses and foliage.
Brockholes boasts 250 acres of beautiful nature reserve in Samlesbury, Preston, with weddings hosted in the village which floats on the Brockholes lake.
I have visited Brockholes with my family and enjoyed the wonderful wildlife and lake. For any nature loving couples this is the perfect venue. I loved that we were able to set up the ceremony with the lake as a backdrop and then make the use of the fabulous tall grasses and pier onto the lake.
Harmony Event Stylist, based in Morecambe, is a family-run business specialising in weddings. They used lots of foliage and hints of gold detail to add a feel of luxury. The tablescape had lots of details which complemented the natural settings. We loved the little golden animals.
Time for Flowers is the floristry side of the Harmony Events Stylist business. Flowers were mixed with dried grasses to create lots of texture in the bouquet. The Jellypress stationery was another opportunity to bring in a contrast of a rich deep purple against the wooden surroundings. The table plan was presented on a linen display which worked perfectly with the theme. My Elizabeth Anna Cake Design cake also brought in the boho theme with little flecks of gold leaf to complement the tablescape.
Kim and Richie are a real married couple and were our models for the day.
Lotties Bridal Boutique is based in Lytham St Annes and stocks both bridal gowns and menswear. Lottie chose two different looks for Kim; a classic fuller skirt covered in sequins which sparkled in the sunshine, and an elegant fitted style with a full veil. The headpiece by Earthlinks perfectly complemented Kim’s stunning red hair.
Emma Hartley used rich plum tones to create a dramatic yet soft bridal look which worked perfectly with the pops of colour and Kim’s striking red hair. Based in the North West but covering all of the UK, Emma specialises in bridal make up and aims to enhance the natural beauty of brides creating a flawless finish.
Charlotte created tousled curls which worked perfectly both with the headpiece and with the stunning full veil. Bridal Hair by Charlotte is one half of HMUA business Bridal Luxe but also offers a hair-only service across the North West.
The shoot ran smoothly on the day and we were blessed with wonderful weather. The wind did pick up a little in the afternoon and unfortunately we lost the beautiful arch into the lake but thankfully we had already managed to take some images. Our top tip to couples is, if possible, to prioritise outdoor images whilst the weather is in your favour as it can change so quickly!
Our aim was to achieve a look that complemented the beautiful natural surroundings of the reserve and we feel like we achieved that. Photographer Rebecca Bridges and videographer Maxine Furness Films captured it all beautifully.
